April 6Aiden sighs softly and looks around the room, still devoid of anyone but himself and Sol. He walks over to Sol and looks at him, cocking his head off to one side. "Sol..? Are you alright?" Sol looks anything but, shame etched on his face and hanging in the sag of his shoulders. "Yeah." Aiden grabs both of Sol's hands, lacing his fingers into the older elf's. "You don't look fine to me." He squeezes Sol's hands gently. "No one is here but you and I. You don't have to be fine for me." Sol's hands press Aiden's, almost too hard for a moment before relaxing enough to avoid pain. He nods once and sags further, leaning forward to rest his head on Aiden's forehead. Sol says quietly, "I can't believe it caught me. I thought I was a better brother than that." Aiden releases Sol's hands and wraps his arms around his shoulders, pulling him into a hug. "That was not your fault, Sol. Something in there was making us forget.. It made me forget too.. forget everything but you. It's not like you did it on purpose." The golden elf folds easily, comfortably into the hug, lean body stretched warm against Aiden's, but his voice is weary. "You are correct... but it had to have something to start with that is true. Aiden... even now, I know that if it had been real, part of me would have been glad. Not all, but part. I don't want to be trapped here, either." Aiden drops his chin to Sol's shoulder, whispering softly into his ear. "When this is over, Sol, none of us is going to be trapped anywhere. It's not going to be easy, but in the end you'll finally be able to be who you want to be.." Sol shivers in Aiden's arms and says, "I was who I wanted to be before we came back here, when I was running errands for traders in the forests and mountains. The only thing I'd been missing... was you." Softly, the older elf says, "Lua is the heir. I don't want it. I never have." Aiden reaches up to stroke the elf's golden hair. "I don't see any reason that you can't go back to being that person. You won't have to go back to it alone, though..." Sol stiffens in surprise, and asks in incredulous tones as he relaxes halfway again, "You don't mind if I'm not interested in taking over the kingdom after we kill my uncle? Even if..." An edge of shame returns to his voice, "Even if we can't reach Lua in time?" Aiden nods, "We'll reach Lua in time. But Sol.. It's your life and your choice. If you don't want the throne, I'm not going to try to force you to take it. If you want it, then I'll help you." Soleil's arms tighten hard around Aiden before releasing him as the golden elf raises his bowed head to look Aiden in the eye. He stands there without saying anything for a long moment, studying the younger man intently, before he smiles like grey clouds breaking. "Aiden? Thank you." Aiden leans forward and brushes a light kiss across that smile before leaning back to mirror it with his own. "You don't need to thank me for that, Sol. Seeing that smile on your face is all the thanks I need." The older elf actually blushes faintly and laughs, standing much straighter than at the beginning of the talk. His fingers reach out to trace the curve of one of the dark blonde eyebrows in front of him as he says, softly, "I love you, too." Aiden beams a smile at Sol. Sol grins back, and turns to eye the three closed doors on the side they emerged from. "I hope they get out soon. I'd hate to be here long enough to need cheering up all over again." Aiden almost staggers for a moment, looking a little perplexed. He puts a hand to his chest. Odd.. I swear something just broke free.. He looks into Sol's eyes and the perplexed look disappears immediately. Oh.
