Ophelia Leannan (Ophelia)Born into a station which rendered her a social outcast, the young Ophelia learned first-hand the hardships of reality early on. Never having known her father nor mother, she was raised by various folk who fostered a mixture of charity, abuse and fortune. These experiences forged within her young mutable personality those instincts of mistrust and aloofness as well as strengthening intrinsic qualities of her spirited, headstrong and highly passionate demanour. After having run away from a particularly loathsome orphanage, the girl quickly discovered the harsh reality of life on the street. Too proud to beg, she found her only means of survival was to steal for sustainance. Stemming from this necessity of life, she became embosomed with others of similar calibre, who taught her and encouraged those innate thieving abilities: from simple slight-of-hand to disappearing effortlessly amidst the blanketing shadows or a sea of passers-by; and when one happened to witness first-hand the street-urchin completing a deed punishable by the rope, her gift in spinning false tales was conceived. But the hard life of living hand to mouth soon became discouraging-especially when one hears rumours of a gentlewoman privy to those of the hightset ranks of society, and, most importantly, one who would take in nubile girls with questionable backgrounds. Encountering the awesome presence of one Madam Fuqua she finds a lady who employs the alluring aires of some great dutchess and the survival insticts of a country cat. Ophelia, surrounded by flamboyant decadance and lavish wealth, learns just how fully a woman's wiles can enslave a man. Feeding off a power so heady as to make another succumb to his own desire by a mere glance, a whispered promise, she soon grew to aquire a great appreciation and knowledge of the finer things in life while at the same time a loathing for men who would be so weak as to aquiese their most valued possessions for one night of carnal delight. Utilizing her gifts of charm and cunning while being fueled by this disguist of weak-willed men, she became a mistress of swindle, parting the wealthies' treasures from their keep while their loins were hard and their minds were soft. It is upon one such rouse she finds herself aboard a craft to which she becomes an unwitting stow-away and whisked off to far reaches of space to a section called Oloth... Having been involved with certain 'questionable' circles, she took her serrindipidous meeting with the infamous Alois quite seriously and somehow convinced him to become her mentor. During the lessons she subtly pushed her charms upon him but learned of their ineffectiveness upon this self-controlled Drow. It was in this light that the feline grew to respect this discipline he held and became quite loyal his pupil. It was only when she discovered the licentious relationship with Alois' paramour that she became disillusioned and so focused upon destroying the one thing she felt put him at risk, his vulnerability to a woman, that she took it upon herself to set into motion ridding him of this temptation. This proved to be the catalyst which changed her entirely. Seeking allies, she came upon a certain piratical Captain and coerced him into taking her back to Toril for a 'weekend gettaway' at her secret respite and safehouse. As Ophelia awaited the flurry of sordid rumours which flew with scalding scandelous insintuation in regard to Alois' lover, the weekend vacation with Dermott turned into a week, then a month, then two. It was during this time that her life altered, for within this new ally she had hoped to seduce and attain, she discovered a kinship within him so strong as to render her hopelessly, unyieldingly, undeniably in love. Within that quiet, intimate respite, they became engaged, and married nearly a year to the date after their first meeting. |
