whisper

Aliases: None.

whisper <player>=<message>

The whisper command sends a private message from you to another player. That player must be awake and in the same room with you.

Usage:

whisper <player>=<message>

<player> - the name of the player to whisper to

<message> - the message to whisper to that player

Description:

The whisper command sends a private message from you to another player. That player must be awake and in the same room with you. No other players will see the message.

You do not have to use the whole player's name, only as much as is required to uniquely identify that player in the room.

Most servers replace the default whisper command with a more capable one, which may render this description incomplete.

Example:

When Fred issues the command:

whisper loki=Hi, Loki!

Fred will see:

You whisper, "Hi, Loki!" to Loki.

Loki will see:

Fred whispers, "Hi, Loki!"

No one else in the room will receive any message.

Results:

The whisper command will notify you of the message whispered and the player it was whispered to, or the reason it would not work.

Errors:

Whisper to whom?
The server displays this when you try and whisper to someone who is not in the same room with you.

<player> is not connected.

This message is displayed if you whisper to someone who is in the room, but who is not connected.

I don't know who you mean!

This message is displayed if there is more than one player in the room who would match the name you were whispering to, for instance, if you were whispering to "Fred", and there were a player called "Frederick" and a player called "Freddy" in the room.
