page <player> -or- page <player>=<message>

The page command alerts another user that you are looking for them, or sends a private message to another player, even if they are in a different room than you are.

Sending a page to a player, without a message, will notify that player that you are looking for them, and where you are.

The server's built-in page is often replaced by a more capable one, which would render this description inaccurate.

Usage:

page <player>=<message>

<player> is the name of the player to send a message to.

<message> is the message to send, if desired.. The message can be as many words as fit on the line.

Description:

The page command is used to send a private message to another player, or to notify them that you are looking for them, even if they are in a different room than you are.

To notify the other player you are looking for them, issue the page command, with the other player's name.

To send a message, give the page command, the name of the user to send the private message to, an equals sign, and then the text of your message.

You will be notified your message has been sent, and the other player will recieve your message.

If a player has set themselves HAVEN then they can not be paged.

A player must be awake to be paged.

The server may be set to charge PENNIES for a page. If you do not have enough PENNIES, you will not be able to page.

Example:

To tell Loki that Fred is looking for him, Fred can:

page loki

Fred will see:

Your message has been sent.

Loki will see:

You sense that Fred is looking for you in Fred's Apartment.

To send a message to Loki, Fred can:

page loki=Hi, Loki! How're you?

Fred will see:

Your message has been sent.

And, Loki will see:

Fred pages from Fred's Apartment: "Hi, Loki! How're you?"

Results:

page will notify you that the message has been sent, or why it could not be. If the message was sent, the player to whom it was sent will recieve it.

Errors:

When page cannot send a message, because the player to send to is unknown, it will display:

I don't recognize that name.

If you try and send a message to a player that is not connected right now, page will display:

<player> is not connected.

If you attempt to send a page to a player that has set themseles HAVEN, page will display:

That player does not wish to be disturbed.

If the page command has been set to charge PENNIES, and you do not have enough pennies, you will see:

You don't have enough pennies.
