Kern Densaran (Kern)

Kern Denseran was born in Phlan, a city on the shore of the Moonsea on Toril, to a druidess of Meikkli, Lady of the Forests, and a mysterious wildmage known only as 'Lord Denseran'.[1] Due to some sort of birth defect borne from a merging of druidic and wild magics, Kern was born a wolf-lycanthrope, but seemingly unable to change to human form. At a very tender age, however, Kern's parents brought him to Furry in order to protect him from some 'evil'. It was shortly after this that Kern's mother died, supposedly fighting this 'evil', leaving Kern to be brought up alone by his father. He grew up training to be a ranger, but somewhere along the line, for undocumented reasons, he chose to instead become a mage like his father.

At the age of 18, Kern returned to Toril, and not long thereafter joined the semi-secret society called the Harpers, a group that promoted good throughout the Realms. He spent a little over two years in their company, travelling the width and breadth of the Realms, until a major incident revolving around Kern ended up with a small farming town obliterated, and Kern a psychological and emotional wreck. After a month or so of therapy (with the help of his father), Kern left the Harpers, even though the council had voted him to be allowed to stay. He returned to Furry Prime, where he lived in seclusion for a long time. A few months later, he re-entered the social world and became an operations officer on a tech space vessel, seemingly to leave his past behind him. However, this association brought him into contact with Bronwyn and Sylune Vrinn. (Ironically, this association is what led him to finally be able to shift naturally from human to wolf and back again, instead of using spells to mask or change his appearance).

In so doing, he was introduced to the existence of Arcana City in Oloth, and, furthermore, made himself an ally of House Vrinn and the individuals that made it up....finding an unlikely friend especially in Alois Teken'duis. And he found he would need allies as, back in the world which he had left, he found elements of his past come back to haunt him...and new dangers and challenges as well. In particular, a formidable enemy was able to assume the form of an anti-magic golem, intent on killing Alois. Kern, however, saved him, but in so doing lost his magic.

Most recently, it was disovered that this selfless act would cost him more than he knew, as his body needed the influx of magic in order to sustain itself. But, given aid from unexpected sources, a small band of Kern's friends took him to the outer planes, battling unholy guardians in the Plane of Pandemonium in order to bring Kern to the one place where he could be healed. Not without cost, the band succeeded and Kern regained both magic and his health.

Kern is much less powerful than he used to be, and works dillgently to regain the magical ability he had, as well as training other magelings at Arcana's Mage Guild. He seems in good spirits despite all of the crises that had occurred recently, but ever worried of some of the tales he has heard coming out of Toril....afraid that some of the troubles abound there might plague Oloth as well. Without the aid of the bulk of the EIF, he feels it is his duty now to help marshal what warriors and wizards remain to help protect his adopted home...

[1]Lord Denseran's first name is not known; in point of fact there is no record of the man ever living in Phlan or anywhere on Toril. Queries to Azuth, Mystra, or Oghma will go unanswered. As of this date, he is presumed dead, killed in an attempt to fight off an invading alien army in an alternate Prime sphere.
