Realms: Burning Man Logs

Day three.

When the sun rises, it is onto the cool, almost-quiet expanse of Black Rock City. Rosenstern sleeps through the night extremely comfortably, and while there's always a lovely sensual feeling to being hugged by Bella in her sleep, that evening it had a warm, almost Zen-like comfort to it, and simply Felt Good. As always, the peeking of the sun over the horizon starts to rouse him a little, though he tries not to stretch out or move yet so as not to waken the other sleepers.

Bella is still solidly asleep, her face buried against the nape of Rosie's neck. Shateishael wakes relaxedly, stretching and yawning and then smiling down at his lovers. He lightly traces Rosenstern's hairline with a gentle finger, brushing the little Mercurian's hair back out of his face. Rosenstern rrrs softly, opening his eyes a little and moving his head to kiss Slate's finger. "Good morning," he murmurs, smiling.

Shateishael's eyes are their normal ice-blue, crinkled up in a lazy smile. He rumbles quietly, "Hey, pretty Rosebud. Have fun last night?"

Rosenstern's smile widens, and he resists nodding so as not to disturb Bella. "Mm-hmmm. Mmmm, I enjoyed it a great deal, Slate."

Shateishael's eyes warm with quiet pleasure, and he leans down to brush his lips lightly against Rosenstern's forehead. He sighs contentedly after that, just gazing at his beautiful lovers for a moment... then finally rumbles quietly, "What's onna plan f't'day, pretty flower? D'y'know?"

Rosenstern is particularly slow and loathe to move much this morning. "I'm not sure, love. But the camp is huge; we could wander it in a random direction and run into something fascinating!"

Shateishael nods lazily, his fingers trailing gently along Bella's cheek, "Mm, true... 'r we c'd jus' stay in bed a bit longer..."

Bella's voice comes sleepily from the hair at Rosie's nape, her breath sleep-warm, "Got no plans tonight. Think Sean's still wanting to stop by. Was a really good dancer."

Shateishael grins, then rumbles curiously, "Stop by th'tent?" He adds thoughtfully, "I wanna talk t'Karl at some point too."

Bella raises her head, but stays snuggled up against Rosie, "Mmm, yeah. By the tent... but I bet you gotta go back to the encampment to see Karl." Rosenstern briefly considers that if someone is stopping by he should probably change out of the bustier. He then considers, equally briefly, that, well, so what? He sobers a little, though, at mentioning talking with Karl. About the Winter Court.

Shateishael considers a moment... then rumbles puzzledly, "We got somethin' Sean wants here?"

Bella sits up, blissfully nude, and stretches her arms over her head, making happy noises at the feel of her muscles working, "Mmm... think he just wanted to not have to watch what he was talking about."

Shateishael says, "Ah... 'kay..." He's a bit distracted, smiling as he watches Bella stretching. Absently he rumbles, "Seems t'be lotta that goin' 'round... folks that like straight talkin' that wanna talk t'us." He grins, adding, "Sounds good t'me." As the discussion goes on, there's a light scratch at the door of the tent. Shateishael calls a moment later, after the light's rippled down the fall of Bella's shining hair, "Yeah?"

Rosenstern is suddenly, at the scratching, very acutely aware of wearing the bustier, but after last night even to his more wakeful mind it doesn't seem to matter much. He does still grab a blanket to offer to Bella, reaching for another to cover himself, too. Bella takes the blanket and wraps it loosely around herself, leaving her shoulders bare. Shateishael glances curiously down at the sudden movement, wondering for a moment, until he remembers nudity's not proper nowadays.

The answer to Slate's voice is in a surprisingly familiar voice. Karl says, "Y'decent in there?"

Shateishael sits up, rolling his shoulders and yawning as he replies, "We're angels... 'course we're decent. Not clothed, though. Moment..."

Rosenstern stage-whispers, "But what if we don't want to be decent?" Then he shakes his head, amazed at himself. "This... might take some getting used to...!"

Shateishael snorts in amusement at Rosie! Then he looks around, noticing the others are covered, and grins, pulling on his rather short, ragged edged jeans shorts. He rises and unzips the tent door, pushing back his heavy mane of golden hair and rumbling lazily, "Howdy, Karl. What's up?"

There's a man standing there that is recognizably Karl from the waist up. From the waist down, he's human and wearing a pair of jeans and hiking boots, much like Slate's preferred outfit. "Just thought I'd come by here an' not make you come by the encampment."

Bella wriggles her way into the chemise she wore before, not bothering to belt it. She grins at Rosie, asking as softly as she can, "I've got a robe you can wear over it..."

Rosenstern smiles sheepishly. "Thanks, Bella, please?" It doesn't even occur to him that the robe might be a woman's, as well. Bella grabs the robe and passes it to Rosie. It is, thankfully, a fairly androgynous black terrycloth robe. Rosenstern thanks Bella, and slips it on quickly and unconcernedly, as he sits up and curls his legs underneath himself.

Shateishael tilts his head, his gaze interestedly tracking down Karl's entire body. "Dayum! Good glamour!" He suddenly remembers staring is rude, and hastily looks up again, "Uh, sorry. Y'wanna c'mon in?" He considers a moment, then adds a bit curiously, "You need t'eat, or already et?"

Karl smiles slightly crookedly at the comment, "Eh. Not something I do a lot, actually. Prefer to be m'own damn self." At the invitation to come in, he ducks into the tent, treading carefully as if he's not used to being in such a small space.

Shateishael shifts back so there's room for Karl, and grins at himself when he realizes he's moving as if making room for Thea. He stretches out comfortably on the rumpled pillows and sleeping bags next to his lovers, and adds, "Thanks f'comin' by, then. But if y'wanna, we could head back t'th'encampment? No need t'be uncomfy."

Karl waits for everyone else to be seated before settling on a bare patch of tent, crossing his legs with a snorting chuckle, "Nah. S'long as I got the glamour up, I'm comfortable. It's a complete change of form. I'm one o' the few that hadta learn it to that extent."

Shateishael nods thoughtfully, still watching the other man's movements with a bit of fascination. Finally he looks up and grins at Karl, "Bet Thea'd love t'learn that!"

The other question finally seems to sink in to the form-shifted centaur, "I had some porridge back at the camp. Bacchus' girl seems to want to make sure I don't starve or something'."

Rosenstern grins quietly. He can see Ayra wanting to do that. Shateishael also chuckles at that, then blinks at a startling thought. A moment later he checks: "D'y'all need t'eat 'n sleep?"

Karl looks surprised at the question, "Yeah... at least if I don't want to get really damn hungry."

Shateishael is both startled and fascinated, "Huh! Di'n' know that." He grins fondly at Bella and Rosie, "These two got me hooked on eatin' 'n sleepin'."

Rosenstern grins merrily to Slate. "Guilty as charged. It was very naughty of us to do that."

Shateishael chuckles quietly, reaching out to gently tousle Rosenstern's hair, "Hedonist." He glances at Karl, still smiling, "So... c'n y'talk freely here 'n now?" Rosenstern grins and playfully takes hold of Slate's hand, getting into more of a fey (no pun intended) mood as he wakes up.

Karl chuckles, arms crossed over his bare chest. He actually seems more relaxed away from the other Ethereals, "I told you I'd talk with you about that stuff somewhere more private."

Shateishael grins at Rosie, lightly tangling his fingers together in a gentle restraint, then nods to Karl, pleased, "Great. 'Kay, got two questions, then. First is: c'n I see th'Fenrir sometime? Already know it'll be a whiles; Bacchus warned me 'bout yer needin' t'trust me first 'n all. Second is: what c'n y'tell us 'bout th'Winter Court 'n Bran?" Rosenstern's mood doesn't plummet, but it does become more sober at mention of the Winter Court. Shateishael smiles at Rosenstern, giving him a gentle nudge, "Cheer up, Rosebud... forewarned's forearmed, 'member?" Rosenstern smiles, encouraged some, and leans against Slate comfortably as he listens to Karl's answer.

Karl nods as he listen, face set into the same serious lines it always seems to wear, "Once I've known you a bit, I'll invite you to m'farm. Y'can meet the poor pup. As f'r Bran's court, I can tell y'that there's too damn much politics and too damn many people tryin' to outsmart one another."

Shateishael nods, putting an arm comfortably about Rosie as he carefully listens. "What 'bout Bran hisself?"

Karl's smile tightens slightly, "He's... charmin'. An' good lookin'. An' dangerous. An' he likes havin' his way. He don' like things changin'."

Rosenstern shivers, snuggling more against Slate. They can only try their best to convince him... Shateishael is silent a moment, concerned. This isn't really news... but how to discover the information they really need? Finally he rumbles slowly, "C'n you tell us what happened t'you there, so's we gotta idea what t'xpect?"

The centaur gives Slate a long, quiet look, obviously considering before he starts to speak. "I left the court because someone was tryin' t'set me up t'be killed. No proof who it was, but I wasn' 'zactly popular. I don't put up wi' bullshit an' I don' tell pretty lies to spare people's feelins."

Shateishael nods relaxedly, still listening carefully. He's slightly relieved to hear that -- he wants the truth of what happened, since he figures he's going to ruffle feathers just as much as Karl. Then he realizes Karl feels he's done, so rumbles thoughtfully, "Heard sumpthin 'bout you agreein' t'period a' service 'r sumpthin, t'save someone else. What was that 'bout?"

Karl's expression darkens even further, "There was startin' to be a lot've accidents 'round my forge at th' court. It was the mobile one." He motions toward the Ethereal encampment, "Got one o' my 'pprentices bad hurt." His brows draw together as Slate brings that up, "What'd you hear 'bout that?"

Shateishael says, "Jus' what I said, Karl. But I figger I'm gonna ruffle folks 'bout as much's you, so I wanna know ahead a' time what kinds a' tricks they tried on you."

Karl holds up a hand, "Please, tell me 'zactly what you heard 'bout th' indenture first."

Shateishael frowns, considering for a moment to try and be sure he's gotten it correctly for Karl, "Okay, if'm rememberin' c'rrectly, Somhairle said you were indentured t'his mirror self for coupla decades, t'keep someone else from bein'... used t'play with?" Karl nods slowly. Shateishael adds thoughtfully, "Think th'term he used was 'winter's games.' Why d'y'ask?"

Karl says in a slightly tight voice, "Bran tends to like to see how much people can take. He had his eye on someone that I din't want t'see hurt. So I offered m'self. He din't want me the same way, so he offered me forty years as his personal smith."

Rosenstern shivers at mention of Bran liking to 'see how much they can take.' It bothers him -- a lot -- and not just from a personal perspective... aside from the fact that they're angels, and probably not on the list of favorite people of the Winter Court. He frowns a little, watching Karl as Slate and he talk. He's in real pain here. This is not a comfortable subject for him. Urgh... how to get the answers we need and yet spare him from pain...?

Shateishael is silent a moment, vaguely perplexed at Karl's answer. Finally he rumbles, "How come Bran was a serious threat t'this person? Why di'n' they jus' say no?"

Rosenstern whispers softly to Slate, "Slate... he might not want to talk about that...."

Karl's lips twitch as if he's not sure whether to smirk or frown, "Because she likes to please people. She'd never'd said stop."

Shateishael glances at Rosenstern, then back at Bran consideringly. Finally he rumbles quietly, "Want t'know much as I can t'keep Rosie safe, Karl. 'S up t'you how much y'say." He raises an eyebrow at Karl's response, then puzzledly adds, "If that's th'case, how come Bran di'n' jus' grab her anyways -- 'r later?"

Karl smiles and this time it's almost malicious, "Because once he gives his word -- once any of us give a proper oath -- he can't break it. I was careful wi' how I worded our agreement. He'll never be able t'touch 'er again."

Shateishael nods slowly, "So he's someone who's more inta wordin' than th' spirit a'th'agreements. Got it." He sighs quietly, rumbling, "Cain't say I'm lookin' for'ard t'this..."

Karl nods shortly, "Lotta the winter folk're like that. They won' lie, but they won' necessarily tell y' th' truth."

Rosenstern listens with slowly mounting fear. He adores Soma, and wants to do all he can for the fae... but this, what they're about to do... Shateishael glances at Rosenstern, then at Bella, "Whatcha think, sweetheart?"

Karl catches Rosie's look and his expression softens slightly as he realizes he's maybe panicked the slight angel, "Don' worry 'bout the Summer Lord, li'l guy. He's gentle's the day is long."

Shateishael rumbles slowly, "Don' think that's who he's worried 'bout, guy. Soma's already sworn t'never truly harm Rosie."

Rosenstern shakes his head quietly. "No... not worried about Soma, just... the whole Winter Court...."

Bella is holding herself very much like she did before her Re-Creation, slight arrogance, "I think we can handle this. Remember who my first Superior was."

Karl arches his brows, "He's not sendin' ya'll in there wi'out a talisman, is 'e?"

Rosenstern says, "He is, yes. He said we would be safe...." Then he blinks to Bella, looking oddly and curiously at her.

Karl relaxes slightly, nodding, "Nothin' t' worry 'bout, then. If yer careful 'bout what you agree to and who you agree to it with."

Shateishael gives Bella an amused glance, "Sweetheart, don' doubt you can. Not sure I 'r Rosie can. C'n jus' imagine how well I'm gonna be liked there... 'n we already know Rosie's gonna be more pop'lar than a house on fire."

Bella shrugs, smiling lopsidedly, "So you collar Rosie. He doesn't leave your side. And you let me be the mouthpiece."

Shateishael sighs quietly, not yet reassured, but doesn't say anything about that. Instead he rumbles to Karl, "Y'got anythin' y'can tell us 'bout whom t'expect?" -- then gives Bella a startled look, "Uh... 'kaay..." Rosenstern blushes, but not in the adorable, eager way he's so used to. On the other hand, the idea of being actually, physically collared by Slate.... he shakes himself, forcing himself to the here-and-now, and resists the urge to ask about a 'leash.' Now is most certainly not the time. Besides, a leash would get in the way if, as Slate's sometimes said, the hammer dropped.

The centaur looks Bella over again as if re-evaluating, "Watch out for Bran an' watch out for his second-in-command Thorne. Thorne's..." He looks to Bella and asks, "You talk like you've known some bad folk... ever meet someone really just can' believe anybody else's real?"

Shateishael nods slowly, "Heard mos' demons're like that. So... who's Thorne over here?"

Karl nods, "Yeah... Thorne's like tha'. 'Less he can use you or you can give him something he wants, y' just ain't worth 'is time." He snorts at the question and arches a brow, "Guess, Warrior."

Shateishael gives Karl a puzzled look, then shrugs and guesses randomly, "Gaelach."

Karl nods, "Good guess... y'seen what a shit he is here. Now, 'magine what y'saw las' night was his good side."

Shateishael raises an eyebrow, "Guess I'd hafta be careful not ta punch him inna face."

Bella chuckles, the sound a little rough around the edges, "I think I'd pay money to see that."

Shateishael looks away, one hand rubbing the back of his head as he rumbles a bit sheepishly, "Bacchus kinda said th'same..."

Karl actually grins, tension melting back a little further, "I'd trade y' whatever yer heart desires for photographs o' that. I don' wanna be close 'nough t'actually see it."

Shateishael looks back at the others, still grinning ruefully, "Dayum, anyone like this poor sod?!" Rosenstern smiles, though he still seems uneasy and it doesn't quite reach his eyes.

Karl laughs, taking a deep, cleansing breath, "He's got 'is toadies. Too powerful not t'have 'em."

Shateishael nods slowly to Karl... then rumbles, "Peony likely t'have trouble from him?"

Karl laughs, actually looking fond for a moment, "Peony don' much care who's pissed at 'er. Leprechauns, they're mischievous. Li'l tricksters, yeah? Peony's the sort that saves it f'r fun an' fer folks that need to be taken down a rung. Gaelach'd never admit he hates that she just won' have 'im."

Shateishael nods, "'Kay; good t'hear." Rosenstern nods a little, looking somewhat relieved that Peony can more than take care of herself.

Bella chuckles, murmuring quietly, "I think I need to get to know this woman."

Shateishael sighs quietly, still worrying, but sets it aside, since he doesn't know what other questions to ask. Instead he simply rumbles, "That's it f'me f'questions. Y'all got any? We wanna try th'Song a'Healin' on Rose 'n Lily t'day?" Then he nods absently to Bella, "She's nice. Think y'd like 'er."

Karl blinks slightly, sitting up more straight, "Y'gonna try'n' fix the wastin' ones?"

Shateishael sighs, "Dunno if'n it'll make a whit a' diff'rence... but figgered we might as well try. Least we c'n do." Rosenstern nods quietly, fidgeting a little. Shateishael says, "Why d'y'ask? They likely t'be upset if we try?"

Karl shakes his head, "Nah, they're sweet." Sweet? Did he just say sweet? "Just wonderin' if it'll work."

Shateishael shakes his head, still a bit morose, "No idea. Rosie's th'Singer, not me." Bella slips in behind Slate and hugs him, face looking quite serious. He sighs again, leaning his head back a bit against Bella and running one hand along her arms. He rumbles quietly, "Sorry t'leave you with th'worst job inna Winter Court, lover."

Rosenstern says, "I don't know if it will, but... it's something we need to try. We can't... we can't make up for what was done in the Purge. But maybe we can... heal things. A little." Shateishael nods in silent agreement with Rosenstern.

Bella laughs quietly and hugs Slate tight for a second, "The worst job is going to be Rosie's. He's going to have to look at these people and see what they're really like."

Karl seems more relaxed than he has since the three angels first met him. Something about this meeting has removed some reservation, "I'm startin' t' think Soma's made a good choice."

Shateishael gently returns the hug, although his expression is still faintly troubled... he's not sure just how long he's going to be able to keep squelching the urge to snarl, "Liar!" at folks in the Winter Court... especially if what they saw last night was Gaelach's good side. He smiles ruefully at Karl, remaining silent about his growing reservations.

Karl smiles crookedly, "'F it didn' need t'be just three, I'd come along with ya'll...' He considers for a moment and smiles a not entirely pleasant smile, "Might just fin' business in the court while yer there, though."

Shateishael smiles faintly again at Karl's... 'enthusiasm,' then deliberately changes the subject, "Well, if'n we're gonna try Singin' f'th' flower ladies, we should get goin', don'ch'all think?"

Rosenstern hugs his legs to him, shaking his head. "The Winter Court isn't how they really are," he says quietly. "How they really are is Summer and Winter both." Even as he says it, though, he's worried about Bran. He cannot bring himself to tell Slate and Bella that he can, easily, see himself becoming entranced with Bran. If the way Soma enthralls him is any indicator...

Karl looks at Rosie with a bit of surprise, "Yeah. That's 'bout ri'. The ones of us that don' change... we got our good stuff an' our bad... they're all mixed up t'gether, so y'get a middle ground. They ain't got one."

Shateishael glances at the other two, "Y'all got anythin' else y'wanna ask Karl, 'r wanna say 'bout this... li'l jaunt we're plannin'?

Bella shakes her head, "Not right now, no."

Rosenstern shakes his head quickly. "No, not right now. Karl... thank you. For telling us about the Court."

Shateishael raises an eyebrow at Rosenstern, wondering why he seems so tense... then glances at Karl, "Yeah, thanks. Good t'know. If y'think a' anythin' else, let us know, 'kay?"

Karl pushes himself to his feet and nods, smiling slightly, "Don' know if it's somethin' t'thank me for. I gotta get back. Got an appointment t'do some work for Jenny."

Shateishael curiously asks, "Who's Jenny, 'n what're th'small ones?"

Karl pauses, "Jenny's jus' Jenny. Other half o' the year, she's Jenny Greenteeth. This side o' the year she's sort of a nursemaid... and th' small ones're the little critters with the jewels..." He touches the center of his own forehead, "No one's really sure what they are."

Shateishael smiles quietly, "Cool." He doesn't ask what she is the other half of the year... he suspects he can guess. Instead he frowns thoughtfully at Karl, then rumbles, "Wait... why wuz th'wordin' so important t'you? Wuz th'service t'th'Winter King s'pposed t'be secret 'r sumpthin?"

Karl pauses, thinking carefully before he answers, "No. Ever'body knew about the service. The wordin' was important because I wasn't goin' to trade myself away just to have Bran turn around and take her anyway."

Shateishael tilts his head curiously, "You wordin' things carefully now too? How come?"

The centaur blinks, then snorts another laugh, "Because I just slipped back into the habit talkin' about Bran. I apologize, Smith."

Shateishael nods slowly, "'Kay. Good t'know t'do that. Thanks."

Karl nods to each of the angels again, "Till later." And then he's gone.

Slate sits quietly, one arm still around Rosie and the other hand resting on Bella's arms... and wonders if he's promised to do something really, really stupid and dangerous for his beloveds. Rosenstern nods, "Take care, and be well, Karl...." He lets out a breath, and snuggles closer to Slate.

Bella actually seems a little more relaxed than she has before, "I... might need to talk to my mom..."

Rosenstern blinks and looks slowly at Bella. "Li- why for, Bella?" he asks softly.

Shateishael takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly... then rumbles worriedly, "You sure that's a good idea, sweetheart?"

Bella chuckles a bit, "I've talked to her a time or two since I got adopted, guys. She's still got a claim on me. And she's good at tricky wording."

Shateishael winces slightly, but doesn't say anything. Rosenstern says, "Won't she be considering talking to her be... well, kind of adding another favor to her list?"

Shateishael mutters half-under his breath, "Sure wish I knew sumpthin' she wants that I'd be willin' t'trade her f'alla y'r remainin' geasa..."

Bella chuckles, "Honey, we're a lot alike in some ways. You wouldn't want to give what she'd ask."

Shateishael nods quietly, "I know, sweetheart. C'n dream, though." He sighs quietly again, resting his head against one fist, a troubled expression on his face. Finally he glances up at his beloveds, rumbling, "'M gettin' kinda worried here 'bout bein' able t'effectively protect y'all. I mean, I consider m'self a damn good swordsmith. There're real old angels who've tole me I do good work... but right offa th'bat comin' here, we meet someone who's been smithin' somethin' like 3, 4 times longer than I been livin'. Hard t'argue w'someone who's apprenticed wi'fae that were worshipped as gods, y'know?"

Shateishael runs his fingers through his shaggy bangs, frowning worriedly, "So I gotta ask m'self... how much better're their fighters too? Dunno 'f'I c'n handle a... a Kali 'r a Sekhmet, y'know? 'N I figger stands t'reason there'll be more cold-hearted killers in th'Winter Court than here..." He adds ruefully, "'N if I'm havin' such worries, 'm bettin' y'all are too, 'bout y'all's respective roles."

Bella kisses the top of Slate's head, face serious, "I get the feeling most of these folks are more about bluff and bluster than they are about actual action."

Rosenstern says gently, "Slate, in the Summer Court we only saw Bastet, and she was only visiting. I don't think you'll have to worry about facing down Thor."

Shateishael rumbles, "Th'Lady Bastet's a hearth goddess, Rosie. Han't even seen anyone w'weapons yet." He tilts his head thoughtfully at the little Mercurian, adding, "An'... how come you got so tense there f'a bit, Rosebud? What's worryin' you?" He adds morosely to Bella, "Sure hope so, sweetheart... but 'm not wantin' t'stake y'all's lives on that hope."

Rosenstern makes a quiet sound, hugging his legs. "Because... because I was so entranced with Soma, I... I worry I might get that way with Bran."

Bella unwraps herself from Slate and chuckles, "Slate, love, they're held to their rules, just like we are. We'll have Soma's talismans. We'll be under safe passage. If we keep our eyes open I don't think we're going to have to fight our way out."

Shateishael silently watches Bella moving about, trying to not let himself imagine her being hurt by some verbal slip-up on his part... then he looks back at Rosenstern, "Even if y'did, Rosebud, so what? That's what we're there for, yeah? T'keep y'safe regardless?"

Rosenstern looks somewhat relieved at Bella's words and Slate's reassurances, and he smiles quietly, nodding. "You're both right. Just need to be alert and aware, and it'll be fine." He adds wryly, "And never agree to anything."

Bella moves around and kneels in front of Rosie, reaching up to take his face between her hands, "We'll keep you safe. Slate's got his strength. I've got experience. Though..." She glances over at Slate nervously, "Showing attraction might be a good bargaining tool. As long as you don't actually say yes."

Rosenstern hesitates visibly, and licks his lips a touch nervously. "I... I've done that before, a few times. But never with anyone remotely... remotely as intense as Soma."

Shateishael rumbles to Bella, "'Kay, sweetheart, what's worryin' you?"

Bella smiles over at Slate crookedly, "Aside from knowing that you are not going to like Rosie flirting with Bran?"

Shateishael thinks about that, then sighs resignedly, "'M sorry, sweetheart, Rosebud... jus' really grates when folks're bein' false-tongued." Then he smiles, although it doesn't reach his eyes, hauling himself upright, "Well now... guess if we're gonna try lettin' Rosebud Sing f'th'flower ladies, we should get rollin'." He starts rooting through a pack for clothes... then pauses, looking down at his raggedy jeans shorts on his large and well-tanned frame. "Hm... well, li'l skimpy, but with hiking boots guess this'll work. Not feelin' p'tic'ly inspired t'day f'some reason." He sighs again, grabbing socks and his boots and putting them on as he grumbles quietly, "Maybe I'll see 'f I c'n find a warrior 'n try workin' out w'them..."

Rosenstern nods to Slate. "I know, Slate, love. But if I had to go alone... well, I wouldn't. I'm glad that I'll be there with you." Shateishael nods silently to Rosie, his expression still quite troubled.

Bella stands up and moves over to Slate, wrapping her arms around his waist and looking up into his face, green eyes serious, "Let's not go out yet."

Shateishael pauses, looking down at Bella and reflexively hugging her back, "Uh, okay, sweetheart... how come?"

Bella smiles slightly, "Because you look like a thundercloud when you're worried. And when you worry, Rosie worries. And if Rosie's worried, his singing isn't going to be up to par..."

Shateishael sighs, looking aside a bit shamefacedly, "I... 'm sorry, y'all. I jus'... well, 'm not used t'feelin' quite so outta m'depth. Not sure what real good I'm gonna be on this li'l jaunt, y'know?"

Rosenstern says gently, "Slate... you know I'm not one for hyperbole. But I think we'll be fine so long as we keep our heads together. Remember too... your sword is cold iron. Hell, if Bran sees you as being as dangerous as Soma does, then you'll be living cold iron to them again. Slate... how could I ask for a better protector?"

Bella nods at Rosie's comments, "Remember, Slate, that most of the people we'll see there are the shadow-selves of the people we meet here."

Shateishael shakes his head slowly at Rosenstern, "Dunno if that's th'question t'be askin', Rosebud. They're already sworn t'harm no celestial, an' Soma's givin' us talismans a' protection. What's worryin' me is me -- who I am. If'n Gaelach makes me desperately wanna punch him inna face now... what's gonna happen when he's Thorne? If Bran likes playin' word games... should I jus' not open m'mouth atall? I'm already havin' problems now... folks seem t'think 'm crazy f'sayin' no t'Peony 'n Bast, I cain't talk t'Soma wi'out Bacchus aroun'... how much worse is it gonna be there? I don' wanna be a liability t'y'all."

Rosenstern says flatly, "The day you're a liability is the day Heaven may as well throw open its gates to the Lightbringer." Bella manages just barely not to laugh aloud, because the image is just so perfect. Shateishael snorts in faint amusement, and reaches out to gather Rosenstern into a tight hug as well. It's not clear if the hug is meant more to reassure Rosie... or Slate. Rosenstern hugs Slate back tightly. "Slate," he says muffledly into Slate's chest, "it's because it's going to be hard that we do need you. For Destiny's sake, do you think I want to see Soma's dark side? It might change how I feel about him forever. But he asked us, and we agreed. And Bella's right, we'll be protected. And if any fae was foolish enough to duel you...."

Bella slides around to press herself against Slate's back, putting the big Seraph in the middle of his lovers once again, "Then there'd be a fae in tiny little pieces."

Shateishael reaches back with one hand to gently caress down Bella's thigh as far as he can reach. With the other hand he strokes Rosie's hair and rumbles quietly, "Hush, li'l petal." He's not at all sure the result of a duel would be that foregone, but he appreciates the faith his lovers have in him. He'll just... have to make sure it's a Pyrrhic victory for the fae duelist, he thinks firmly.

Slate savors the closeness and touching with his lovers for a long moment -- it's almost painfully sweet to feel, when he's this worried -- then firmly rumbles, "Okay, no more thunderclouds, then. We got flower ladies t'Sing to, right?" Rosenstern pulls back from Slate a bit, smiling up to him. Shateishael studies the soft curves of Rosenstern's pretty face for a moment, his ice-blue eyes grave... then nods once to the little Mercurian, "Sing y'r best for'm, right, pretty flower?"

Rosenstern nods, beaming. "I will." For all of us.

Shateishael leans down and gently brushes his lips across Rosenstern's forehead, then straightens and rumbles, "Know y'will, Rosebud." He glances back at Bella too, smiling faintly, "So... le's get dressed 'nuff that we c'n go out wi'out causin' a ruckus, 'kay?"

Rosenstern giggles softly, leaning up to kiss Slate's chin. "Why? Causing a ruckus is fun!"

Shateishael chuckles in spite of himself, gently tousling Rosie's soft hair with one large hand, "Y're fun, pretty flower. Thanks. Thanks t'both a' ya." He reflects thoughtfully for a moment... then rumbles slowly, "Y'know... I ferget 'bout it, but inna way... we're th'winners. They lost. That means their greatest fighters gotta be dead. Th'ancient ones -- th' really 'mazin' fighters -- they gotta be gone, 'cause pockets a' resistance woulda jus' gathered more'n more Malakites 'til they were 'liminated. So... that's gotta mean all th'remainin' fighters cain't be much more 'xperienced'n me -- 'bout a millennia's all." He takes a deep breath, straightening, and rumbles, "'Kay. I c'n live wi'that."

Rosenstern fidgets a little. "I... was wondering how to say that. Respectfully, I mean."

Bella smiles and goes on her toes to kiss Slate's cheek, "And just because they have experience doesn't necessarily mean they have skill."

Shateishael grins affectionately down at Rosenstern, "Think th'on'y way ta say it respectfully is t'not say it in front a' th' fae, pretty rose. So... you gonna wear that pretty red leather bustier all day?" He loops an arm easily about Bella, giving her a gentle hug, "'S a good point too, sweetheart. Thanks."

Bella nestles against Slate's side and grins at Rosie wearing her bustier, "I think maybe we'll save the bustier for private... for now at least."

Shateishael chuckles rumblingly, resting his head against Bella for a moment as he admires the flushed look Rosie gets like that... Rosenstern blushes, visibly flustered but grinning with cheerful embarrassment. "Whenever you wi- er, as you wish!" he says sheepishly, and starts to gingerly remove it, being careful with the fastenings.

Bella moves to help Rosie with unfastening the lingerie, smiling to herself, "So what exactly are you going to try doing to Rose and Lily? Healing their bodies?"

Shateishael watches with amused enjoyment, reaching forward once to run fingers lightly across Rosenstern's soft rear as he leans to pick up clothing. Rosenstern shivers, catching his breath a bit at the touch and grinning slyly over his shoulder at Slate... and making no move to shift away from the touch. Shateishael grins at the reaction, then rumbles thoughtfully, "That's what th'Song a' Healin' does, right, Rosebud?"

At Bella's question Rosenstern bites his lip, considering. "I'm... not sure. I'm pretty sure that we would need the Ethereal Song of Healing, but the Corporeal might be of some help."

Shateishael says, "Cain't hurt."

Rosenstern nods to Slate, finally being extricated from the snug bustier. He looks at it a bit wistfully before Bella tucks it away, then tries to gather up slightly more gender-neutral clothing appropriate for walking around the hot playa day. Shateishael tilts his head at the clothing Rosenstern's gathering up, then gives Bella an inquiringly raised eyebrow. Would it be fun to put Rosie in something far more... dramatic? Bella nods, smiling affectionately at both of the men. She changes into the most practical clothes she's worn since arriving on the playa. A pair of jeans cut off mid-thigh and a tank top along with Birkenstocks and heavy socks to keep the playa dust off her feet. She grins at Slate's raised eyebrow, saying, "Mmm... later. Don't want him too distracted from his singing." She puts her hair up into a ponytail as she speaks.

Rosenstern blushes at Bella's comment, grinning sheepishly to Slate. "Soon enough, I'm sure," he purrs a little.

Shateishael nods -- good point. He smiles at Rosen, simply rumbling with assurance, "Yup." He holds open the tent flap for his lovers, then follows them out after securing their temporary home. "Lemme see... Imagin'ry Flow'rs camp, right?"

Rosenstern puts on a simple pair of cargo shorts and tee, and a light pair of hiking/walking shoes and socks. Not trendy, not fancy, nothing special except comfy. He nods to Slate, smiling. "That's the place!" He makes a mental note as he heads out, to just-in-case learn the Ethereal Song sometime.

Bella gathers up water bottles and distributes them before exiting the tent, "Yup. With Ayra and those stars."

Shateishael clicks the water bottle fastener to a belt loop and nods, heading in that direction, "'Kay! Le's pray this works well f'th'flow'r ladies then, yeah?"

The Flowers camp is nearly thronging with people. There are a lot more festival attendees there today, admiring Rose and Lily's carvings and Ayra's unusual flowers. Most seem to just assume that they're extremely artful fakes. Shateishael looks around over the heads of the crowd, searching for either Ayra or the flower ladies. Rose and Lily are both in evidence, looking relaxed and smiling kindly at some very young-seeming folks who are gushing over the handiwork of the carved flowers decorating the tables and shelves around the two delicate ladies. Shateishael puts a hand on Rosenstern's shoulder, pointing to indicate the two elderly fae, "There they are. Y'wanna try catchin' 'em at a break 'r sum'thin'?"

Rosenstern is again simply enraptured by the sighs and sounds. There's a lot more people here today too. He blinks to Slate, then considers and nods. "That might be best, yes. When they're not thronged!"

Shateishael grins down at Rosenstern, adding, "Y'wanna go ask li'l Ayra if'n she'd be willin' t'escort us t'meet her mom sometime this week? 'N' I'll go ask th'flow'r ladies if'n you c'n Sing fer 'em, 'kay?"

Rosenstern nods to Slate, beaming, "Sure! That might be good; I'll ask her!"

Shateishael nods, patting Rosenstern's shoulder lightly and then weaving easily through the crowd towards the flower ladies. Unsurprisingly, he's utterly unaware of the occasional startled or interested looks his rather striking and muscular current 'look' garners him. Instead he simply shifts around until he can crouch easily next to the wheelchair, waiting until the flower lady glances at him. He makes a mental note to try politely and subtly to find out which one is named what. When there's the first pause, the fae in the wheelchair smiles down at Slate, blue eyes warm with greeting, "Well, welcome back."

Shateishael nods in amiable greeting and rumbles, "Thank you, ma'am. Sorry we missed ya las' night."

The fae in the wheelchair smiles as her companion moves up behind her, resting a frail hand on a delicate shoulder, "Oh, we tire easily any more."

Shateishael nods slowly... then rumbles just to them both, "Ladies, we'd like ta ask a fav'r of y'all if'n y'would. We'd like ta try a Song a' Healin' on y'both. We dunno if it'll do any good... but with y'all's p'mission, we'd like ta at least try?"

The lady in the wheelchair laughs softly and touches Slate's cheek as delicately as if he were one of their intricately carved flowers, "Oh, I don't know that it will help, but we'd be willing to let you try... but I think perhaps it should be when there are less witnesses." Her scarred companion smiles and nods, seconding her opinion.

Shateishael smiles, his ice-blue eyes warming at the light, fearless touch, "Thanks, ma'am. We'd be happy t'wait 'till y'all're ready. Y'all got any idea when yer next break might be?"

The seated sidhe taps her chin with one forefinger, "Mmm... I think perhaps after dark, when we've returned to our tent, may be best. In case there are... complications."

Shateishael nods, straightening, "'At's fine w'us, ladies." He gently takes the fae woman's delicate hand, bowing politely over it as he rumbles, "'Til then, ladies." Despite the slight amount of clothing he's wearing, the bow looks unaffected and utterly natural... and then he flashes a grin at them both and fades back into the crowd to find Rosenstern and Bella with the good news.

Over by the fae flowers, Ayra is dressed in a white cotton dress, the texture gauzy and seeming to cool the people around her just by the breeziness and movement. Her hair is braided down her back and she grins when she catches sight of the angels, waving cheerfully. Rosenstern brightens, waving to Ayra and maneuvering though the crowd towards her. "Hello, Ayra!" he greets her cheerfully.

The dryad greets Rosie with a big hug, beaming at him, "I'm glad you came back!" The people examining the flowers don't seem to bother her a bit.

Rosenstern hugs her back warmly, smiling. "We're always glad to come by here. Actually, we've got a couple reasons. Slate and Bella and I... we wanted to see if, well... if there was anything we could do for Rose and Lily."

Ayra looks a little confused for a moment, "They're pretty self-sufficient. They're a little delicate but they've got a lot of hidden strength."

Rosenstern makes a quiet sound, nodding. "I know. We were... wanting to do something, to try a Song of Healing of some kind, because..." he sighs and his shoulders slump, "because of what was taken from them by the Celestials," he says quietly.

Ayra blinks slowly and then her eyes well up with tears. She wraps her arms around Rosie tightly, "Oh my god, my mother is going to adore you. Tenderhearted beings just get right down into her roots."

Rosenstern blinks startledly at the sudden hug. "I... I just..." He hugs back quietly. "I just know we should try...."

Shateishael appears behind Ayra, looking down with interest at her hugging Rosenstern, "Man, I knew Rosebud was pretty irresistible..." He grins mischievously at Rosie, adding, "'M impressed, pretty flower!"

Rosenstern blinks up at Slate and blushes, though confused. "I... I mean, what? Er...?"

Shateishael chuckles, resting one hand lightly on Ayra's shoulder and ruffling Rosenstern's hair with the other large hand, "Jus' teasin', pretty flow'r. So, Ayra, y'willin' t'lead us?"

Bella, who has been on the edges of the folks admiring Ayra's little garden, grins at the hug. Ayra herself laughs a little, but her cheeks pinken almost imperceptibly, "Well, he's a doll, I have to say. Now? I've got to stick around here."

Shateishael says, "Nah, some time later this week, if'n y'd be willin'? None a' us're familyer w'th'Marches." Rosenstern's blush goes even deeper at Ayra's compliment. Shateishael grins, gently brushing the back of one finger along one of Rosie's cheeks.

Ayra nods, still grinning, "Oh, I'd love to. Mother will love hearing how much people have admired her work."

Rosenstern smiles up to Slate, then bobs his head to Ayra. "Oh, we definitely have! They're all beautiful!"

Shateishael smiles down at Ayra, "Thankew, ma'am. We 'ppreciate it. Jus' let us know when's good f'you, 'n we're happy t'go." He adds to Rosenstern and Bella, "Th'flow'r ladies say t'night at their tent'd be best. That okay w'y'all?"

Rosenstern nods to Slate. "That'd be perfect.

Shateishael says, "Excellent." He sighs and smiles, relaxing a bit, then rumbles, "So whatch'all wanna do t'day, then?" He adds thoughtfully, "Ha'n't seen th'Jewels campsite yet?"

Bella nods, acknowledging what's supposed to happen today. Then she thinks for a moment, "Maybe go hunt down Sean to see what he wanted? Or go and see who else we can see at the Encampment..."

Shateishael nods, "Sean's at Livin' Stone, right? Sure, that'd be cool. Le's go!" He grins at Ayra, giving her a courteous half-bow, "Be seein' ya t'night f'sure, 'm thinkin', ma'am!"

Rosenstern smiles to Ayra. "Take care, Ayra. We'll be around again soon!"

Ayra smiles and kisses Rosie's cheek, waving cheerfully to Slate and Bella, "Be careful. It gets awfully nasty out there when the sun gets high."

Shateishael grins, rumbling amiably, "Yes'm!" He chuckles quietly once they're out of earshot, adding, "C'n see how she'd take care t'be sure th'entire camp was fed, yeah..." Rosenstern blushes again, smiling and nodding to Ayra before waving to her and following the others out. He nods quietly to Slate.

Shateishael heads for Living Stone first, so Bella can speak with Sean. She trails a little behind her male companions, giving the two of them room to be close to one another. It doesn't hurt that she can also watch their behinds as she walks. Rosenstern walks closely beside Slate, arm around his, and not at all concerned; here, at least, he can do the Public Display of Affection thing. Shateishael's arm is laid companionably about Rosenstern's shoulders as well. Before they quite make it to Living Stone though, Sean finds them. "Ach! There ye are! I was wondering if ye'd abandoned your camp."

Shateishael gives Sean a puzzled look, "Uh, naw, wouldn' do that. Gonna be here f'th'whole two weeks. Why y'ask? Someone try riflin' our camp?"

The dwarf laughs, "No, lad, I've just gone by two or three times and ye're never there!"

Slate grins at Sean's reply, "Ah. Sorry 'bout that... lots t' see here." He nods behind himself, adding, "Bella says y'wanted sum'thin' a' her?"

Seam shakes his head, "I was going t'offer m'self as bit of a guide once you arrive in Bran's court."

Shateishael's eyebrows go up as he studies the short, sturdy dwarf. He nods slowly, "Would 'ppreciate that... but y'sure y'wanna go there? Been gettin' th'feelin' no one that doesn' hafta go from this court goes."

The dwarf chuckles and shrugs, "I tend t'be a bit of a maverick where that comes in, feller-me-lad. I'm more comfortable on their side of the year. Weather reminds me of home and all."

Shateishael tilts his head at that, nodding slowly at the comment about the weather but rather curious regardless. "Yer sayin' y'like th'other court better, 'r jus'th'weather?"

Rosenstern smiles quietly, "We'd appreciate it, Sean, thank you. We're kind of babes in the woods there..."

Sean smiles at Slate, "Mostly just the weather, lad. Though some of the folk over on that side of the year have a keen sense of humor, and they brew an amazin' ale."

Shateishael huhs quietly, "Guess I shouldn' be s'prised... gotta be good on both sides in someone at least." He looks around for Bella, "Hey, sweetheart, didja hear Sean's offer?"

Bella nods and leans over to kiss the bearded being on the cheek, smiling warmly, "We'd be stupid to turn it down." The dwarf grins at Bella, "If y'end up at the Winter Ball, I'd like t'have another dance, lass."

The Bright grins and nods, "It's a deal, Sean."

Shateishael rumbles surprisedly, "They dance there?!" He frowns, glancing at Rosenstern, and growl, "Crap."

Sean laughs, "Of course they dance. They're the fae, after all. Granted, I don't think any of them have learned a new dance since the minuet, but they do dance."

Rosenstern blinks, looking at Slate. "What... what's wrong with that, Slate? I thought you'd like that?"

Shateishael says, "Don' wanna leave y'lone, Rosebud." He nods quietly to Sean.

Rosenstern blinks and smiles. "You won't. I'm not about to do any sort of private dancing." He adds in a murmur, "At least for anyone other than you and Bella, but still..."

Shateishael rumbles quietly, "Rosebud, folks're gonna wanna dance w'you'n Bellisima. She c'n go if'n she wants, but I dunno if you 'r me goin' dancin' w'anyone's sucha good idea inna Winter Court."

Bella smiles and strokes a hand down the middle of Slate's back, "Sweetie, I'll just bet you'll have your own fair share of people trying to lure you off."

Shateishael glances down at Bella and smiles, "Sweet 'a you t'say so, but mos' folks tend t'shy off when I glare at 'em."

Sean chuckles, "Oh, he'll appeal to a lotta the Winter Court, aye. Lot of 'em are from up in my home area. They like the blondes."

Shateishael gives Sean a curious look, "Lotta Norse?"

Rosenstern grins softly. "There, you see, Slate?"

Shateishael rumbles, "Not yet, nah."

Sean nods, looking surprised, "You didn't think that there'd be a lot of the Norse on that side of the year? Ole One Eye is around from time to time."

Shateishael straightens startledly, "Odin? Th'ole bastard's still roamin' 'round?!" He thinks a moment, then rumbles amusedly, "Then 'gain... sure, he allus was a survivor. T'others were th'stand up guys."

Sean guffaws and reaches up to slap Slate on the arm companionably, "Oh, aye, survivin' is one thing the Gallows Lord was always good at. So, I'll see the lot of you on the other side of things? I'm on here for today and then I have t'move on."

Shateishael looks puzzled again, "Other side? Y'mean th'Winter Court or th'Marches? Move on where?"

The dwarf chuckles, "The Winter Court, lad. I've got work I have to deliver. Hard to stay in one place if ye're a stoneworker any more."

Shateishael nods slowly, completely confused. "So... it takes you that long t'travel there? Y'gotta start while Summer's still in session?"

Sean shakes his head, explaining slowly, "No. I have a job in San Jose doing some bas relief work on some bigwig's pseudo-mansion and it starts in three days."

Shateishael nods again, studying the pale-haired dwarf, "'Kay. Sorry. Good luck w'it." He politely bids Sean goodbye, then rumbles a bit puzzledly to his lovers after the dwarf has left, "C'nfusin' man. Wonder why'd he'd mention Odin when he's talkin' folks bein' innerested in me?" He's silent a moment, then adds quietly, "Dunno 'f I'm that thrilled w'Himself bein' 'roun' still, either. He never was much f'thinkin' a' anybody but hisself." He draws another slow breath, then rumbles, "'Kay. Jewels campsite now, y'all?"

Bella slides her arm through Slate's on the other side from Rosie, "Sure. It seems like it's going to be an interesting one."

Shateishael says, "Yeah? Whatcha know 'bout it, Bellisima?"

Rosenstern says, "Well... that's something we'll worry about when we cross it, right? I mean... we ran into Bastet, and we came out alive and in one piece. And as he said... they have both good and bad there, just like the Summer Court."

Shateishael gives Rosenstern an amused look, "Like I said, Bastet's a hearth goddess, Rosebud. She's not th' killin' type... that's Sekhmet y'thinkin' of, 'm thinkin'?"

Bella smiles quietly and strokes her fingers along the inside of Slate's wrist, "Hearthfolk aren't all gentle, lover."

Shateishael glances down at Bella, turning his hand so she can trail her fingers along his palm if she wishes, and rumbles quietly, "Aren't usually bloody-handed mad killers neither, sweetheart."

Rosenstern says, "Well, Sean said he would guide us there, and he'll be there while we're there. So we'll have someone we can refer to if we need help, and know we won't get turned 'round wrong."

Shateishael nods slowly, "Yeah... 'n maybe 'f we're lucky, Bacchus 'n Karl'll be there too." He sighs quietly, looping an arm about Rosenstern's shoulders and rumbling, "C'mon. Too nice a day t'be grouchy."

Rosenstern snuggles against Slate, smiling. "Don't worry, Slate. It'll go well. Let's head to the Jewels campsite."

Bella lets the men get out front again as they head toward the Jewels camp. It's not as large as the others and there's something gorgeous topping the whole thing. Set on four sturdy poles is a gigantic faceted glass dome made of every color of glass imaginable. The sun shining through it throws rays and pools of light onto the playa floor. Shateishael blinks, staring up at it with an impressed expression on his face. "Okay... that sucker is damn cool!" He wanders slowly around under it, staring up in fascination and admiring the workmanship.

Rosenstern is almost floored by the sight. "Oh, wow," he murmurs. Stone and glass isn't his thing, but light and color certainly are, and this place has both in vast quantities. He walks close to Slate, bumping up against him a little but really letting the Davidian have a moment of communion of sorts with his nature; to Rosie, at least, it looks like an incredible, glowing interior of a geode. Shateishael idly runs a hand along Rosie's back, still staring upwards and smiling.

Bella looks in awe of it, looking up through the glass to see how the sky looks through the skillfully placed panes. The space beneath it is simple. White hangings and piles of white cushions and carpets have been put around the area -- either randomly or they've been often rearranged. There are several people relaxing here, just basking in the rainbow light. Shateishael grins at his friends, then looks around at the folks relaxing there, curious as to whether any of them are fae. If they are and seem friendly, he'll gladly settle next to them. Bella herself settles down onto a puffy white comforter that has been draped over some cushions, crossing her hands beneath her head and smiling dreamily up at the glass dome. Near her there is a small ginger-haired woman that looks somewhat familiar. Shateishael studies the small woman curiously, then rumbles, "Peony?"

Rosenstern blinks at mention of the name, then brightens. The woman raises her head and grins. She looks quite similar to her natural self, though her teeth are less pointed and her ears seem to be normal human ears. Other than that, it's the person Slate danced with, "Indeed! Welcome to my camp."

Shateishael looks impressed again, "Jewels is yours? Dayum, girl -- this is gorjus!" He grins, settling next to Peony and beckoning, "Bellisima, Rosie, come meet Peony!" He adds to the smaller woman, "Bella'd like t'meetcha."

Rosenstern beams to Peony. "Pleased to meet you, Peony."

Bella wanders over and settles down on the other side of Slate from Peony, offering her hand, "Lovely to meet you." The leprechaun woman smiles and shakes the Bright's hand, "You must be his lover." Shateishael smiles without realizing it at Bella, his face lighting up for a moment.

Bella laughs, "Well, one of them, yes." Peony laughs warmly and then smiles up at Rosie, "You're the Flowerkin." That's not a question. Rosenstern nods cheerfully in answer to the question.

Shateishael smiles at Rosenstern too, then draws him down to sit with them as well, "Rosie here's m'lover too." He glances between his two lovers, then rumbles very softly, almost under his breath, "Damn if I know why I got so lucky..." Rosenstern grins to Slate, nudging him lightly.

Peony crosses her legs tailor-fashion and chuckles, the sound rich and almost touchable, "Oh, I agree about the lucky. They're both lovely." She motions up at the big glass dome, "I designed it, but I did have some help making it."

Shateishael looks a touch self-conscious, but simply strokes Rosie's hair lightly with one hand, and rests the other against Bella. Just touching his lovers feels so nice... makes him feel sort of vaguely... glowy inside. He waits a bit until he doesn't feel quite so self-conscious, then glances sideways at Peony, rumbling quietly, "'S beautiful camp, Peony." He wonders a bit curiously what it's like to see someone in the bright, unforgiving light of day... after you've seen them lit with a fiery glamour the night before. Is he-now a disappointment compared to the 'living liquid gold' Peony had poetically referred to him as the night before?

Rosenstern nods, looking up and around. "It really is a beautiful sight, Peony. What inspired you?"

From the way Peony's watching Slate, he's not a disappointment in the bright light of day looking like himself. She stretches back out on the makeshift lounge of pillows, "I have something like it over my bed at home."

Shateishael isn't terribly good at picking up on subtleties like admiration of himself, but he does look away when he realizes Peony's watching him watching her -- he doesn't want to stare rudely, he firmly reminds himself. Instead he looks up at her comment, rumbling thoughtfully, "What a great idea! I wonder..." He studies the dome, trying to figure out a way to put something like it into either the forge, barn, or house's roofing. He mumbles absently, "'Scuse me, Rosebud..." as he rises, then paces over to gently touch the glowing dome where it comes down to join one of the supporting pillars. What's it made of?

Rosenstern blinks, looking at Peony, then looks back up at the dome. 'Something like it over my bed at home'... oh, my! He also resists mentioning something about the dome, Peony's bed, and Slate in the same sentence. That would probably be rude... though quite a lovely mental image. If there was ever some sort of 'mood' place that he could picture Slate enjoying, it would be this.

The leprechaun grins, "Only a lot smaller, obviously. Some friends helped me replace the skylight over my bed with stained glass. It's amazing making love under that thing at noon." The dome is apparently glass.

Rosenstern laughs softly at Peony's comment. "I can only imagine. It's beautiful, Peony."

Bella grins at the comment, "Now I'll be wanting to talk Ian into hacking a hole into my roof."

Shateishael runs his fingers very gently along the joinings, trying to figure out how it was created. Surely an entire glass dome would be prohibitive to transport -- it must fold down cleverly somehow...? The dome seems to be made of an intricate but modular metal framework, supported by several supporting pillars. The glass panes are laid into that and seem to be held in place with shims of some kind. He rumbles slowly, "Ahhh... I think I see... very clever!" He grins over his shoulder at Bella, "Well, if'n y'do, I'm happy t'help try 'n make sumpthin' like this!"

Bella grins, "I'll keep it in mind. Then you'll have to see if it's as amazing making love under it as Peony says."

Shateishael chuckles at Bella's comment and wanders back over to the others, stretching out full length near them without getting in their way. He grins lazily, putting his hands behind his head and staring dreamily up into the shimmering rainbow of brilliant color, "Sure'd be a lovely ceiling... mebbe I'll try somethin' like this f'th'ranch too..." He muses silently for a while, almost visibly planning changes in architecture... and then the silence registers, and he glances over at the others curiously, "Sump'in?"

Peony laughs quietly and glances over at the two angels sitting near her, "I can't say anything about them, but I was just watching you admire my work."

Bella grins impishly, "I got lost thinking 'You know, with Slate's fair hair, that really would be a sight.'"

Rosenstern blinks and blushes sheepishly. "Sorry, I got lost in the same general area that Bella's mind was in."

Shateishael gives them all a slightly quizzical look... then rumbles politely to Peony, "'S really ver'nice, ma'am." Then he grins at Bella and Rosie cheerfully, "Hedonists, th'both a'ya! So... when ya wanna try? Er... wait, I mean at home, not here... that'd be rude t'Miz Peony."

Rosenstern opens his mouth, then closes it, considering what to say very carefully. Shateishael grins in curious inquiry at Rosenstern? Peony grins, saying, "Only if I'm not allowed to watch. I know that I'm not quite invited yet."

Shateishael blinks at Peony a little startledly... then rumbles politely, "Cain't speak f'my lovers, ma'am. Could be they'd like t'be with ya; you'd hafta ask them."

Bella grins, "I don't know her yet, hon, but I think I'd like to if she's got the kind of mind to design this."

Shateishael nods calmly to Bella, "Thought y'might like ta get ta know her." He relaxedly goes back to admiring the jeweled light, to give them both time to chat together if they'd like.

Peony settles back on her elbows, tipping her head back to let the colored light fall on her face. The colors are fairly spectacular on her Celtic-pale skin and red hair, "I do stained glass for a living. Mostly I pass."

Shateishael glances curiously sideways at Peony, rumbling, "'Pass'?" At the same time Rosenstern tilts his head to the side. "'Pass'?"

The leprechaun chuckles, "For human."

Shateishael grins at Rosenstern, then pauses a moment, admiring the effect of the light on the pale redhead; the green-eyed woman with dark, dark hair; and the soft-brown-haired slender man. They make a remarkably lovely grouping! He rumbles softly, his gaze thoughtful on the three of them, "Wish I painted... y'all look really nice here..."

Bella grins, "Then paint it, honey. Just because you can't make it look like this doesn't mean you can't paint how lovely it was."

Shateishael shrugs and smiles a bit self-consciously, "Dunno how t'paint, lover. 'M jus' a metalshaper. Diff'rent kinda color use, y'know?"

Peony glances at Bella as if the Bright just said something extremely interesting, then back at Slate, "She's right, you know. Any art is about how you feel. Which can be a lot more important than what something looked like."

Rosenstern tilts his head to the side, considering Peony's words. Shateishael chuckles, laying back again and lifting his Thor's Hammer up to look at it, "If that's th'case, gotta lotta feelin' in m'metal already." He adds happily, "'Specially th'swords. Feels like joy makin' one a' them when it all comes t'gether."

Peony grins and actually bounces a little, looking a bit younger when she does that, "I think I'd like to be a sword."

Shateishael blinks at Peony, "Er... what?! Wait... didja mean you want one?"

Rosenstern blinks to Peony, then gets it -- and looks to Slate, grinning. "There you go, Slate. I think she means put the moment into your metalworking. What would the difference be between a painter and a blacksmith if they were inspired by the same thing?"

Shateishael ponders that a moment... then rumbles amusedly, "Th'painter'd be more colorful 'n th'blacksmith'd be stinkier?"

Rosenstern says, "Colorful, maybe... but they'd put the same passion into their work."

The leprechaun grins at Rosie, "Though I think I'd probably be more of a stiletto than a sword."

Rosenstern laughs softly to Peony. "I'm pretty certain I'd not be more than a katzbalger, myself."

Bella snickers a little, then grins at Slate, "Ever really worked with oil-paint, lover? Turpentine is not perfume."

Shateishael gives Peony another confused look. "Er... I realize English's like m'fourth language, but 'm pretty sure tha's not correctly conj'gated, Miz Peony?" Then he grins at Bella, "There's a reason there's a well next t'th'forge, lover. When Thea says I stink t'high heaven, tha's too much."

Peony grins at Slate, "Tell me what part's confusing and I'll try to translate."

Shateishael rolls over onto his front and nods to Peony, "'Kay. How come y'said you'd be a sword, 'nstead a' sayin' you wanted one? Or didja mean you wanted one? If tha's so, I c'n help ya wi'that?"

Peony rolls onto her side, "No, I meant I'd like to be a sword. I'd like for there to exist a sword or just a blade that was inspired by me."

Shateishael rests his chin on his crossed hands on the pillow before him, regarding the tiny woman with interest, "So is bein' th'inspiration f'something th'same as bein' that thing t'you?"

Peony grins, "It's really more like that thing being me, but if it's me, that means I'm it, right?"

Shateishael rumbles surprisedly, "Is it? Never thought a' it like that b'fore...? How's 'at work, then?"

It's Peony's turn to be a little confused, "How do you mean how does it work?"

Shateishael considers the question a bit puzzledly, "Well... huh. Guess I sorta'm inspired by m'sensei when I'm creatin' new katanas... but I din' think a' them as bein' him so much, y'know? So... is it diff'rent f'you? How can a thing be you?" He sits up cross-legged, thoughtfully studying the small woman before him, his mind already starting to analyze her with an eye to a small, swift, lovely, light blade... Rosenstern sits nearby, cross-legged and smiling quietly, watching the interchange and letting his own mind consider the thought... though for him, with a mind to floral and garden arrangements. Bella is nodding along, herself imagining the little goddess figures she sometimes molds that don't look like anyone in particular, but remind her of people she's known.

Peony smiles, "Does your sensei inspire you, or is he the inspiration for how the blade with be formed? The way it makes you feel when you look at it? Is the blade a metaphor for him?"

Shateishael shakes his head slowly, "Think he's more inspiration f'how t'create th'blade, ma'am... not how it'll look 'r feel. Not sure how... hmm..." His voice trails off thoughtfully and he reaches out with one large, slightly scarred hand. If Peony does not flinch, Slate will musingly runs his fingertips lightly along her hair and her side, measuring hands-breadths of distance along her body and gathering sensory input on texture and reaction. Peony not only doesn't object, but makes a little humming noise of enjoyment as Slate's hand moves down her body. Her eyes are twinkling with humor, but she doesn't open her mouth to say anything.

Shateishael finally draws his hand back, frowning thoughtfully. He rubs his chin and rumbles absently, "Never tried nuthin like this b'fore... wonder how it'll turn out. Should try it w'Bellisima 'n Rosie too mebbe..." Rosenstern grins widely.

Peony grins, nodding, "You should. I think you'd surprise yourself."

Shateishael tilts his head thoughtfully at Peony, "You want it when'm done? Dunno if a blade bein' you is... significant magically'r anythin'?"

Peony laughs, stretching out comfortably, "Mmm... I don't know. It can be nice to have the right people have a piece of you."

Shateishael looks a bit startled again, then rumbles, "I thought... that wuz, well... kinda dangerous f'y'all?"

Peony tips her head to the other side, "What? Cold iron?"

Shateishael says, "Nah -- well, yeah, actually, but I meant handin' out pieces a' y'self?"

Peony laughs, "Hrm... it's not quite the same. It's not got an actual piece of me in it unless I put it there."

Shateishael nods slowly, "Ah, 'kay... tha's better, then." He considers a moment, adding, "Guess it shouldn' be col' steel neither, now I think 'bout it." He tilts his head, studying the small, unself-conscious woman carefully, then nods once, musing, "Mebbe... bronze? Not silver..."

Bella ooohs and grins, "Bronze... it would be gorgeous in bronze." Rosenstern blinks, and nodnods eagerly.

Shateishael smiles warmly at Bella, then stretches out full length again, putting one hand behind his head and resting his other hand on whichever lover is closest, "'Kay, bronze." He grins lazily at Peony, "Think y'oughta c'mon by th'ranch sometime, 'n I c'n show it t'you when it's done." Bella grins over at Rosie.

Peony nods and beams, "I'd be honored. I'll even bring some stained glass plans."

Rosenstern grins back at Bella. Shateishael rumbles musingly, looking up at the dome, "That'd be cool... so d'you go t'th'Winter Court 'r not?"

Peony wrinkles her nose, "I do sometimes. But I don't exactly enjoy it."

Shateishael nods, unsurprised, "From what we've heard, tha's not 'zactly a s'prise... 'specially consid'rin' Gaelach's Thorne."

Peony rolls her eyes, "Only even more of an ass."

Shateishael chuckles quietly, although there's not much humor in it... then sighs quietly, glancing at his lovers, "Well. We shouldn' take up alla Miz Peony's time. Where y'all wanna try next?"

Peony looks around, eyebrows raised. There are people milling through the camp under the dome, but none of them seem to really have an agenda, "Do I look like I'm overwhelmed with my agenda?"

Rosenstern laughs. Shateishael smiles quietly at Peony, "Jus' tryin' t'be p'lite, ma'am. Not renown f'm'social delicacy, so I try t'stick t'p'lite."

Peony grins, "My plans today are to lounge here, watch people, and then to go to the encampment tonight and listen to Bacchus tell stories. That's my whole day."

Shateishael nods slowly, "Ha'n't heard Bacchus tell stories yet... might be nice, after Rosebud Sings f'th'flower ladies." He blinks at a thought, then curiously asks the leprechaun, "So... what's it like bein' a trickster, ma'am?"

Peony laughs and rolls onto her back again, throwing her arms and legs out so she's sprawled over as much space as she can be, "I don't know. What's it like being an angel? What's it like being a gardener?"

Shateishael rumbles thoughtfully, "Nice. Makes me feel whole... like harmony that works perfectly. Dunno 'bout gardenin', though."

Rosenstern grins, resting his chin on his hands and his elbows on his knees. "Kind of the same. It's something that feels right to be doing, that I know how to do well and is a part of me. So that's how it is to be a trickster?"

The leprechaun grins, "That's pretty generically being yourself... but how is being an angel different than being a Trickster? Being a trickster feels whole and harmonious to me."

Shateishael rumbles curiously, "Well... guess it's hard t'wrap m'head 'roun' th'thought a'... mockin' folks? Um... what d'tricksters call it?"

Peony chuckles and smiles at Rosie, then glances back at Slate, "Not all tricksters cause their mischief by mocking people. I don't see something like changing all the labels on the milk cartons as mocking people so much as teaching them not to just accept what they're told."

Shateishael frowns thoughtfully, considering... then nods slowly, "'Kay... guess Bellisima's kinda right when she says 'm too serious." He grins ruefully.

Peony chuckles, "I'm pretty sure she's right -- and I've just met you."

Shateishael grins apologetically at the slight leprechaun, "Sorry, ma'am."

The small woman rolls onto her side, facing the angels, "Why are you apologizing for being yourself?"

Shateishael says, "Not. 'Pologizin' f'not bein' as int'restin' as y'all seem t'like."

Peony sits up, crossing her legs tailor-fashion again. She seems to be squirming quite a bit, "You're interesting! And just because I think you'd be a little more relaxed with more humor doesn't necessarily mean it's true."

Shateishael looks puzzled, watching Peony curiously, "Er... thanks, ma'am? Um... y'okay?"

Peony chuckles, "Philosophy makes me wiggly."

Shateishael looks a bit surprised, "It does? Well... cool! Y'oughta c'mon by sometime then... I love chattin' 'bout philosophy!" He looks inquiringly at Rosenstern and Bella, "Y'all enjoy philosophical discussions too?"

Bella opens her mouth, blinks, and apparently discards something to say, since she shakes her head with a laugh, "I do. But you're actually a little deeper than I am, sweetie."

Shateishael gives Bella a curious, inquiring glance? Rosenstern's grin widens, though he's blushing as he watches Peony. Okay, how to tell Slate of the effect he's having on Peony without me sounding like a crashing boor? "Uhm, I do as well. Though admittedly of late my mind hasn't really turned to... philosophy. Quite the same way, I mean." He glances to Bella, grinning sheepishly.

Peony's eyes are twinkling slightly as she glances at the two more worldly angels, then back at Slate. "I'd be happy to drop by for a discussion sometime. I'll be bringing the glass plans, after all."

Shateishael brightens, "Cool! We could all have a nice chat then! 'Specially if'n we're at th'ranch... then Thea could come chat too." He grins happily at Peony, "Thanks, ma'am; that'd be right nice a' you."

The rambling discussion with the leprechaun takes up a pleasant chunk of the day, and by the time everyone seems to be winding down from it the sun has already passed the meridian and started its lazy journey toward the western horizon. It's actually Peony that excuses herself first, explaining that she's got work to do on her outfit for court that night. It leaves the angels free to wander for the afternoon, though Bella mentions that she's feeling strangely impatient to be in the Ethereal encampment.

Shateishael nods amiably to Bella, "We c'n hustle, sweetheart. Y'wanna try f'r a p'tic'lar look there t'night?"

Bella shakes her head with a chuckle, "The glamour will sort of decide for me, anyway. I'm just feeling... antsy."

Rosenstern brightens, though he's a little pensive about going back there. He nods as well. "True... at least it makes deciding what to wear easier!"

Shateishael tilts his head at her, standing behind her and gently running his hands down her hips, "Y'okay, sweetheart?"

Bella leans back against Slate and nods, smiling, "I like it there... it's a little scary, but scary isn't always bad, really. It feels like something I've been supposed to know about."

Shateishael smiles quietly, enjoying the feel of Bella resting against him. He loops his arms gently about her in a quiet hug and rumbles thoughtfully, "Scary how, sweetheart?"

Bella chuckles and glances over at Rosie, "The way letting yourself really go under the hand of a top much bigger and stronger than you can be scary, even if you trust them implicitly. Sort of excitingly scary. Like bungee jumping."

Shateishael muses on that for a bit, not sure what that feels like... maybe like when he's around David? He knows that's excitingly scary, especially when he's done something he hopes David will be proud of. He nods slowly at that thought, then smiles, "All right. Y'all ready t'head on over t'th'fae encampment then?" He wonders idly if he's ever shown his full strength around Bella or Rosie. He doesn't think so... or at least he doesn't remember doing so.

Rosenstern considers thoughtfully, then nods to Bella. "Like... a sense of vulnerability, and yet you aren't worried about being taken advantage of. Just that it's visible?" He blushes, and murmurs, "Like my accidental-on-purpose 'wardrobe failure' while dancing last time...."

Bella laughs quietly and nods, "Which was quite nice." She links her arm through Rosie's on the other side, "Let's go."

Shateishael chuckles quietly, reaching out to run a gently familiar hand along Rosenstern's rear, "Was quite... dramatic, pretty Rose. Was fun teasin' y'after, too."

Rosenstern smiles, blushing as he walks with Bella and Slate. "Which I strangely didn't mind, even as embarrassing as it was. I was vulnerable, but I didn't mind... or really care outside of realizing I was flashing the entire room." And a goddess. For Heaven's sakes, Rosie, you flashed a pagan goddess!

Shateishael ties a bandanna around his head to keep his shaggy golden hair out of his face, then happily heads out with his lovers for the fae encampment -- cheerfully wondering what they'll look like this time! The camp is actually busier outside today that it was the last few days. From out here it looks like any other large encampment of people you might find at Burning Man. Once the boundary is crossed, there are some Ethereals wearing glamour and some wandering around in their natural forms. Shateishael looks around curiously, then hmms thoughtfully, "Guess Soma's not yet put his glamor over everythin'...?" He adds curiously, "Wonder what's up? Seem busier t'y'all t'night too?"

Rosenstern considers, "Possibly people getting ready for tonight? Peony said that Bacchus was going to be telling stories tonight. I can't imagine that not being a big thing."

Almost as if his name summoned him, Soma appears from the door of the main pavilion. He's wearing his true form and not a thing else. The resting of the night before seems to have restored him completely.

Shateishael nods slowly, unsure as to whether that's truly the reason, since Bacchus had been story-telling the first night as well, as Slate recalls... but he simply smiles at the slight Mercurian, "Okay. Le's head on t'wards th'- ah." He nods politely to the butterfly fae, "Summer Lord. Good t'see ya lookin' better."

Soma smiles warmly, seeming relaxed, wings flapping slowly, "Friends. Welcome back." He motions around himself, "It seems there's to be another gathering tonight. A showing of talents. I was just off to find and invite you."

Shateishael looks curious, "A what now?"

Rosenstern brightens as he sees Soma... and at the same time blushes really deeply. His heart feels like it's about to beat right out of his chest seeing Soma in all his glory -- not entirely unlike how he often feels himself getting, watching Slate in the morning as he goes about the ranch house getting ready for the day's work without a stitch on... Rosie takes very firm control of his thoughts and tries very hard to focus. He smiles to Soma, ducking his head. "Good evening, Summer Lord."

Soma reaches his hands out toward Rosie and then catches himself, "There was some talk of asking if the three of you would be willing to grace us with performances."

Shateishael grins as the Summer Lord is so taken by Rosenstern that he entirely misses Slate's query... so he rumbles politely, "What kinda performances y'talkin' about, please?" Rosenstern blinks in surprise at mention of performances... and catches himself from moving into Soma's touch. He is not going to break his promise to Slate, or do anything against or to hurt his lover and dominant.

Soma catches himself and actually goes a slightly darker blue around the throat and face, "There is to be music and stories and feats of skill... I believe Ajax was going to thrill us with an archery demonstration."

Shateishael looks a bit surprised, rumbling, "Ajax? Wait... must be a nickname, yeah?" then considers a bit, glancing at Rosenstern and Bella, "Um... huh. Not really sure what t'do, m'self. Y'all wanna try sumpthin'?"

Soma laughs softly, "Though I believe he calls it his nom du guerre. He is one of Karl's kinsmen."

Shateishael tilts his head thoughtfully at the little twitch from Rosenstern... a moment later he grins, leaning to whisper to Rosie, "Y'think maybe a li'l hug'd be nice way t'say h'llo t' 'im?" He brightens at Soma's words, looking up at the fae, "'Nother centaur?! Whoa, tha's great!"

Rosenstern glances to Slate, blushing and nodding a little with a shy smile, who chuckles softly, patting Rosenstern's rear and giving him an encouraging little nudge. Rosenstern smiles to Slate, and pads forward quietly towards Soma, not wanting to be so gauche as to leap into his arms... Shateishael glances at Bella, wondering what her performance might be... maybe he can figure out something to do from what his lovers do? Bella nestles against Slate's side and watches Rosie move toward Soma. She leans her head against Slate's shoulder, "I'd offer to dance, but I've seen some of these people move."

Shateishael nods amusedly down at Bella, "Yeah... 'm havin' th'same problem 'bout not knowin' what t'try. Dunno what I do that's unique... well, that's unique 'n wouldn' scare folks." He gently strokes his hand along the smooth curves of Bella's back, enjoying feeling her leaning against him.

Soma opens his arms to Rosie, his whole face literally lighting up and a soft glow coming from his skin. He wraps his arms around the Mercurian, resting his cheek against Rosie's hair and just holding the slight angel close. Rosenstern brightens and relaxes as in the same motion he hugs Soma back, closing his eyes and silently giving thanks not only for knowing Soma, but for a lover as simply wonderful and caring as Slate. Shateishael smiles quietly, watching... he doesn't know of anything as lovely as people in love. He wonders if he looks even half so suffused with joy. The butterfly fae speaks without opening his eyes, "It's not always bad to be slightly frightened. Do you do katas of some sort with your sword?"

Shateishael gives Soma a slightly startled look, "Er... well, yeah. Mostly wi'out, but yeah, I know a few with. Y'sure tha's sump'n folks'd wanna see, though? You know 'em better'n I do."

Soma smiles wider, opening his eyes and giving Slate a slightly mischievous look, "Mmm... I think it might be wise for some not to underestimate you."

Shateishael raises an eyebrow... then grins slowly, "Well now... how c'd I refuse a c'mmand p'formance? Guess I'll do some sword kata then." Rosenstern half-opens his eyes, grinning to himself and feeling a wave of love for both men. Perfect. They'll see how skilled Slate is, and those who go to the Winter Court will tell others how so very much he is not a person to mess with.

Soma's face goes, if not solemn, at least serious and he nods to Slate, wrapping his arms around Rosenstern more tightly, "I will let them know there will be exhibitions of skill by the pair of you, then." He pulls back enough to look at the Mercurian in his arms, "Would you like to perform, sweet petal? Or would you prefer a more private venue?"

Shateishael rumbles thoughtfully, "Um, actually Bellisima's not decided yet, Summer Lord." He looks down at Bella leaning comfortably against him, "Y'wanna 'r no, sweetheart?" He raises an eyebrow at the comment about the 'more private venue,' then gently remonstrates with himself. Not everyone moves as slowly and deliberately as he, after all... and as everyone says, variety is the spice of life.

Bella laughs quietly, "I'd be happy to, I guess. It will be fun, even if it's just this hippie chick twirling around to music."

Shateishael beams quietly at Bella, nuzzling her hair gently, "You'll be lovely n'matter whatcha do, beautiful."

Rosenstern blinks up to Soma, opening his mouth. "I... I don't think I know any way to perform... I mean... I sing but I'm certain there are much, much better in the court...."

Soma strokes Rosenstern's throat with his fingertips, "I was teasing, sweet petal."

Rosenstern swallows, trembling a little at the lovely touch. "E-even so... it'd not be right to just sit by the side...."

Soma chuckles softly, "No one will force you to perform in any way you do not wish. But we would all enjoy you taking the stage."

Rosenstern blushes deeply, a touch unsure of himself, and glances to Slate for his opinion. Shateishael smiles quietly at Rosenstern, "Why not Sing f'th'flower ladies first, 'n give y'self a moment t'consider, Rosebud?" Rosenstern bobs his head to Slate, relaxing a bit and smiling. Shateishael grins lazily at Soma, drawing attention away from Rosenstern as he asks, "So, talent shows like this somethin' y'all do often? Seems like a nice thing t'do f'a party?"

Bella nods, nestling into the line of Slate's body and watching Rosie and Soma soak up one another's presence. She grins up at the Seraph, "I think we might look that sappy sometimes."

Shateishael chuckles at Bella's comment, rumbling, "Cripes, there goes m'rep." He grins and gently kisses her on the temple. Rosenstern gives a soft laugh at Bella's comment and Slate's reply.

The monarch opens his arms slightly, letting Rosie move away if he wants, "Displays of skill and sharing of art are more a special celebration than something one might do as a general celebration."

Shateishael nods quietly at Soma, rumbling thoughtfully, "Well, hope we don' disappoint then, if'n this's 'nother party 'cause a' us goin' t'th'Winter Court."

Rosenstern doesn't move away right away, instead taking one of Soma's hands in his. "Is there a special occasion for the display tonight, then?

Soma kisses the inside of Rosie's wrist, smiling, "It is a celebration for that, and for a reminder to Gaelach. I received word he was somewhat impolite."

Shateishael raises an eyebrow, then grins slowly and says nothing. If Soma thinks this'll keep Gaelach away, that's fine with Slate. He's not sure how long he can keep himself from snarling at the pretentiously deceptive little snob as it is. Rosenstern blushes at the kiss, but asks, "If I may... a reminder how?"

Soma looks down at Rosenstern, "A reminder how to do what?"

Shateishael grins again. Rosenstern says, "I mean... how is it a reminder for Gaelach?"

Shateishael chuckles quietly, "Reminder on who not t'mess with, pretty flower." Rosenstern blinks, then ohs! Shateishael adds, "Like... you."

Rosenstern blushes. "I'm sorry... it took me a mom-" He blinks again to Slate, who grins silently at him.

Soma ahhhs and smiles, "Very much so. He is much the narcissist, and considers himself charming. I believe he needs to be reminded there are reasons I am king and he is not, and not all of them have to do with power. He has no concept of true respect."

Shateishael nods quietly; he's seen that already too. Rosenstern nods a little, a bit unwillingly. He doesn't like to call attention to people like that, but in this case... well, it's the truth. Though he wonders if it will help them when Gaelach becomes Thorne.... Shateishael rumbles quietly, "Le's go have you Sing f'th'flow'r ladies, Rosebud." [That should calm him down a little too,] he thinks. Rosenstern smiles and nods to Slate, who politely asks, "Y'wanna come 'long, Summer Lord?"

Soma strokes his free hand down the line of Rosenstern's back, "I wish you success with the Silent and the Wise ladies."

Shateishael pauses... then asks a little sheepishly, "Um... which one's which, please? I know they're Rose 'n Lily, but nuthin' more'n that?"

Soma chuckles softly, "In truth they seem to interchange seamlessly, but originally Lily was the pale and Rose was the ruddy of the two. Now you may find it easier to think of Lily as the Silent and Rose as the Wise."

Shateishael nods, "Got it. Thanks." He tilts his head, "Still... wanna come, 'r no?"

Soma shakes his head, "Unfortunately I cannot. I must find our sweet Peony and ask if she would demonstrate her juggling."

Shateishael tilts his head, considering... then grins, "Multi-talented woman, I take it. Cool." He smiles, then adds, "C'n y'direct us t' th'ladies' tent, please?"

Soma nods and points to the opposite side of the camp from his own yurt. There is a small, sturdy canvas tent such as one might expect to have found on a Civil War battlefield. The sides are painted with roses and lilies, and Soma says, "They decorate with their namesakes."

Rosenstern looks over and smiles at the decorating of their tent. Shateishael chuckles quietly, "'S lovely." He glances back at the butterfly fae and nods politely, "Thanks. Thinkin' we'll see ya later t'night then," he grins, "once we suddenly change outfits."

Rosenstern smiles warmly to Soma, ducking his head in a bow. "I look forward to seeing you again tonight, Summer Lord."

As the Summer Lord speaks, Rose rolls out of the tent in her old-fashioned wheelchair. Out of her human seeming she has dusky pink skin the color of faded rose petals, and hair only a slightly deeper hue. The wings that protrude through the slits in the chair are pure white. Shateishael beckons to his lovers and heads towards the tent, smiling and waving to the fae, "Evenin', ma'am! Y'all busy?"

Soma kisses Rosenstern's fingertips, "Always, petal." Bella grins at Soma and Rosie one last time before scampering off to follow Slate.

Rose smiles up at Slate; the smile is very familiar even though the face looks less human, not so much wrinkled as drawn, as if the flesh has been melting away. "Of course not, Warrior. We have been expecting you." As she speaks, her silent companion emerges from the tent. Lily, in this guise, is a pure white being. Only deeply golden yellow eyes hold any color at all. She seems almost as if she's actually fading.

Rosenstern blushes, smiling to Soma... then glances around and quickly steals a soft, fleeting kiss from Soma, lips brushing lightly against his, before he slips -- more like skips -- to catch up to Slate. Soma holds Rosie tightly for that kiss, breath catching and releasing in a sound that is almost a purr before he lets the Mercurian join the other angels. Bella covers a broad grin at watching the fae and the Novalite behave like twitterpated teenagers.

Shateishael bows politely to the ladies both, and again it looks very natural despite him wearing nothing more than hiking boots, comfortably raggedly jeans shorts, and a bandanna holding back his shaggy mane. "Pleasure t'see y'all 'gain too, ladies. Rosie here..." his voice trails off as he glances around, catching the tail end of the kiss. One eyebrow goes way up... he tilts his head, folding his arms and waiting for Rosenstern to join them.

Rose laughs a melodiously piping laugh at the whole scene and Lily smiles in a sweetly nostalgic way. The pink-tinged fae says, "We would be honored to have the Flowerkin sing for us."

Rosenstern catches up to Slate, blushing -- and not in a shy way -- as he realizes Slate caught that. Erp... bad, Rosie... get a hold of yourself, I don't want to hurt Slate. He steps up beside Slate, and bows politely to the two ladies, smiling quietly to them. Shateishael rumbles dryly, "Quite done? Need a moment t'gather y'self b'fore singin'?"

Rosenstern shrinks into himself at Slate's tone. "N-no, Slate, I'm fine. I'm ready."

Shateishael reaches out and gently draws Rosenstern closer, "Quit cringin', pretty flower. Doesn't suitcha." He faces Rosenstern towards the women, in front of him, resting his large hands on Rosie's shoulders, "'S yer show, Rosebud... yers 'n theirs. Anythin' me 'r Bella c'n do t'help?"

Rosenstern takes in a deep breath, centering himself and focusing. "Just a few notes of Essence if you hear me falter, please, Slate & Bella..."

Bella nods and blows a little kiss to Rosie, "Of course, sugar."

Shateishael brushes the backs of his fingers gently along Rosie's cheek, "You know we're always good f'that, Rosebud."

Lily opens the flap on the tent and makes an ushering gesture toward the tent. Rose does the same, shifting out of the way enough for their guests to enter. Shateishael follows Bella and Rosenstern in, then politely holds the tent flap for the flower ladies to enter also. Inside, the tent is cozy but not crowded. There is a pair of cots and one camp chair. Lily motions soundlessly but with a welcoming smile to let the angels know to sit comfortably. Shateishael waves Bella and Rosenstern to the cot -- Rosie's the one who'll be expending energy, and Slate doesn't want him to fall over or anything. Slate will settle within arm's reach of them, so he can feed Essence as needed, crouching next to his lovers, resting his arms comfortably on his thighs, and watching intently. Rosenstern smiles to Lily, but shakes his head. "Thank you, very much, ma'am. I just sing better when standing, though."

Rosenstern smiles quietly to Slate and Bella. When Rose and Lily are settled, he takes in a deep breath and cautiously begins to Sing. Lily and Rose reach for one another's hands silently and perfectly, fingers intertwining as Rosenstern's singing filters through the Symphony around them. The Song is beautiful and feels soothing just hearing it. There is a flutter of light around the two fae and very subtly, almost imperceptibly to normal senses, color seems to suffuse them. Rose's pinks deepen just the tiniest bit. Instead of pure white, Lily's hair takes on the smallest tinge of gold.

Shateishael listens with silent pleasure to the Symphony's glorious harmonies as Rosenstern adds his voice to them... then he notices the somewhat 'off' music of the two fae women. His heart aches for them. He wishes he knew how to show them how to allow the Symphony to flow completely through them, like a river of joyous sound... he reaches out, laying one large hand against the back of Rosenstern's calf, and feeds the slight Mercurian some Essence to help. It's the least he can do, although he wishes fervently he could do more.

With Slate's gift of Essence, the colors deepen just the slightest bit more. When Bella strokes Rosie's hair, pouring Essence into it, the faintest tracery of lines seems to appear in Rose's wings and Lily's hair deepens to a truly gold color. The tresses look very metallic but move too freely to be the texture of metal. Shateishael smiles slowly, watching. He has great respect for age and wisdom... but he's happy to see the two ladies appearing a little less physically frail, a little less broken in the Symphony. He hopes it lasts them a good while.

Rosenstern continues singing, Singing until the measures of the Symphony cannot be harmonized any more, until the dissonant notes cannot be urged and made into a more smooth melody. He doesn't collapse when the Song finishes, but he does let out a soft sigh. The two fae women take deep breaths and when they open their eyes to smile at the angels, their eyes seem almost to blaze with color, "Oh... it's been decades since my wings were anything but white...." Lily pulls her hair over her shoulder and hugs it with a silent but obviously joyful laugh.

Shateishael's smile broadens at their obvious happiness, and he lightly strokes Rosenstern's bare calf, rumbling quietly, "Did good, Rosebud." He wishes a bit wistfully they could have healed that terrible scar across Lily's throat, though. Lily steps toward Rosenstern and kisses the Mercurian's forehead, and then does the same for Slate and Bella in turn. Rosie smiles warmly and brightly at what the Song helped to accomplish, and blushes with the kiss from Lily, bowing to her.

Shateishael also smiles, straightening and leaning enough so it's easy for Lily to reach him, then rumbles quietly, "We're real happy we c'd give ya sump'in' nice, ladies." He grins at Rosenstern, adding, "Maybe y'oughta ask th'ladies t' 'llow ya t'innerduce 'em as y'r talent t'night?"

Rosenstern blinks to Slate startledly. "Ah... should I...? I mean...." He blinks again and turns to Lily and Rose. "Would... would you do me that honor tonight, if it isn't too much for me to ask?"

Shateishael rumbles gently, "They c'n allus say no if'n they want, Rosebud."

Rose laughs softly and claps her hands like a child, "We would be happy to be shown off tonight, Flowerkin..."

Shateishael grins, inordinately pleased at the harmonic joy in the little tent, and rumbles, "So... when ev'ryone changes from Soma's glamour... is that th' summons t'court, 'r sumpthin'?"

Rose nods, with a joyful smile still on her face, "Just so, Warrior."

Shateishael smiles quietly, warmed by her happiness, "Then, ma'am, mebbe y'all'd permit us t' 'scourt y'both t'court then?"

Rose claps again and looks to Lily, who nods happily. "Yes! We would adore it." Lily is smiling as well, arms wrapping loosely around Rose's shoulders as one would hold a dear sibling.

Rosenstern lets out a breath, and smiles, bowing. "Thank you. It will be our honor. Thank you."

Shateishael wonders suddenly if the two are sisters, or loved the same person... but isn't quite sure that's not too personal to ask. He definitely doesn't want to introduce a note of sadness to the current joyous song... so instead he simply rumbles, "Didja'll wanna change 'r anything b'fore court?"

Rose smiles and laughs softly, "We'll wait until closer to time for court to change. We're more comfortable this way."

Shateishael says, "S'cool. We c'n come escort'cha then, 'kay?" Both the fae women nod, not quite glowing in the literal way, but they both seem quite happy. Shateishael can't help his own quiet smile, in the face of their joy. He holds the tent flap for his friends to exit... then pauses a moment outside the tent to hug Rosenstern tightly. He rumbles softly, "Thanks, Rosie... did m'heart good t'see 'em both light up like that."

Bella caresses Rosie's hair as well, smiling, "You seem to be bringing a lot of joy around lately, hon."

Rosenstern hugs Slate back warmly, smiling up at the big man. "It made me feel good too, Slate. I was glad to do that -- that we could do that." He blushes and smiles to Bella at the caress. "It's with the help of both of you, though."

Bella shrugs and smiles, "Hon, we just brought the firewood, you got the thing to burn."

Shateishael nods silently at Bella's comment, then sighs happily again as he releases. He glances over towards the pavilion and rumbles, "Think I wanna try'n 'xperiment t'night... see if I c'n carry sumpin in through th' glamour."

Rosenstern blinks to Slate. "We already can, though? The ice cream and honey-mead? Unless you mean something else?"

Shateishael smiles ruefully down at Rosenstern, "Mean as part 'a m'outfit, Rosebud. Was thinkin' a' m'katana."

Bella adds, "And the flower crown I brought that first night." She tips her head, "Well, Soma said the magic can't touch cold iron."

Shateishael looks back up at the big tent, adding slowly, "An'... if'n we wanna be able t'leash ya inna Winter Court, we're gonna need t'know how t'pass that through." He frowns thoughtfully, nodding to Bella, "Soun's like stuff that's carried comes through fine... but not stuff that's worn? An' I don' wanna freeze poor Rosie's throat by accident, if there's any steel onna collar."

Rosenstern stifles a shiver at the idea of Slate leashing him, even if it's for a perfectly reasonable purpose. "Line it with something, maybe?"

Bella thinks about that for a second, brows drawing together, "Huh... that is sort of weird... why would it work that way?"

Shateishael shakes his head slowly to Bella, "Dunno, lover. 'M guessin' it hasta do w'us expressin' our inner selves. Stuff we're carryin' isn't part a' our Self, y'know? 'R least that's what I'm guessin'. Gonna try testin' it t'night."

Bella nods and bites her lip as she thinks about that, "That sounds reasonable, I guess..."

Shateishael grins at Rosenstern, "That, 'r I'll carry it in, an' collar you once we're through th'glamour. Either way, we'll be sure you're safe, sweet petal." He counts on his fingers, "Lessee, what t'try with t'night... katana, collar, hmm..." He looks up at the others, "Anythin' else y'wanna try?"

Rosenstern considers, then says slowly, "Slate... I'd like to try the collar... but only after you, you know... formally put it on me. It might have some symbolic importance that way which might prevent it being changed."

Bella bites her lip and seems to be trying not to chuckle. Shateishael tilts his head in curious inquiry at Bella. The Bright shakes her head, chuckling, "It just sounds like a checklist for a BDSM date. All you need is lube, condoms, and a pair of nipple clamps."

Shateishael chuckles at Bella, his ice-blue eyes bright with amusement, "Well, now... guess we could try all that with th'li'l Rosebud!" He grins mischievously at Rosenstern. Then he thinks about Rosie's last comment, then rumbles quietly, "Las' time I collared you, pretty flow'r, was formal t'me. Was it not t'you?"

Bella's expression softens as Rosie asks to be collared, "Since the collar is borrowed, maybe it feels different to him, somehow?" She smiles at Rosenstern, "Plus, it's nice to make it part of things sometimes. Keeps the symbolism fresh."

Rosenstern says, "It was, yes. But I wasn't wearing the collar into the pavilion."

Shateishael nods thoughtfully to Bella, then considers, "Well, lessee... I could cobble sumpthin t'gether f'r t'night. Le's go back t'th'truck, an' I'll see what we got." Bella trails behind the men, watching the way they're so careful of one another and the adoring attention Rosie keeps on Slate's every move.

A short while later Slate has Rosie seated on the open tailgate of the truck, and he's rustling around muttering to himself, "Silk cord? Leather? Nah... metal? What've we got... hm, not enough gold, no silver... brass? Yuck, no, needs refinin'..." Rosenstern curls his legs under him as he watches Slate curiously.

Bella disappears into the tent and comes back out with an armful of things, "I have a chain mail bikini in here... maybe take it apart for the links?" When she puts the small pile of things down, the bikini (which looks far too skimpy for actually keeping anyone covered) is atop it. Along with it, she's brought out some of the scarves and random lengths of cloth she brought for costuming.

Shateishael sits up finally, with a triumphant, "Got it!" He's got a dangling bit of chain in his hand, and he grins at his lovers, eyes alight, "Curb chain -- gotta pretty "lay" t'th'coils. Lemme line it, 'n I think we're in business!" He adds to Bella in mock horror, "D'prive ya of th'opportunity t'wear next t'nuthin'?! Who d'you think I am?!" Rosenstern weighs the advantage of more material for Slate to work with, vice Bella in a chain mail bikini. On the other hand, a chain mail bikini sounds like it could hurt unless on top of something.

The Bright laughs, "I forgot to bring the lining for it. I am not wearing that next to my nipples without the liner. But if you've got enough chain, that might be better anyway."

Shateishael grins mischievously at Bella, "Got some leather inna truck if y'wanna liner made, beautiful!" He chuckles, then measures a strip of soft black leather around Rosenstern's neck. He marks the leather, then settles cross-legged with a tiny jeweler's anvil, the strip of black leather, the chain, and some tools. A little hammering and tapping and cutting later, and he tilts his head, critically studying the results, "'Kay... lessee what th'pretty flow'r thinks."

Rosenstern is handed what feels like a very soft leather collar with rounded ends that almost meets around his throat. Decoratively attached to it is a broad, flat steel chain. Each link has a distinct double curve which, when they're all laid flat across each other, makes a pleasing wavy pattern. Two small D rings are attached to each end of the chain, laying smoothly on the leather, and there's a delicate little padlock to clasp them. Shateishael grins cheerfully, "Y'like it, pretty Rose?"

Rosenstern looks at the collar, then beams widely, nodding. "It's gorgeous, Slate! Oh... it locks...?"

Shateishael nods, "Yeah. If things got ugly, that's a small 'nuff lock I could rip it off, but unlikely mos' folks can."

Rosenstern doesn't seem dissuaded by the fact Slate could pull it off. He blushes a little and nods, smiling shyly. "Do you want to put it on me now...?"

Shateishael nods firmly, "Damn straight, Rosebud." He slides to settle next to Rosenstern (the truck creaks a bit protestingly), and takes the little collar from the slight Mercurian. Rosenstern settles into a kneeling position on the truck, gathering up and lifting his hair clear of his neck. While Rosie lifts his hair, Slate runs a finger carefully along the inside of the soft leather strap, making sure there are no lingering rough spots... then, once Rosie's ready, Slate slides a finger under Rosenstern's chin so the Mercurian is looking Slate directly in the eye. The Seraph's voice is a bit more deeply intense as he rumbles, "Think y' already know I take this serious, Rosebud. So if'n y'want me t'collar ya, wantcha to say so now, 'kay?"

Bella watches as quietly as she can. Rosenstern nods a little, smiling quietly. "I want you to collar me, Slate," he says softly, a bit of a tremble in his voice. "I want to be yours."

Shateishael sighs softly, his ice-blue gaze warming a bit as he relaxes slightly, and nods, "'Kay, sweetheart. Hold still a moment..." He gently puts the collar around Rosenstern's throat, making sure it fits and lies correctly, his fingers trailing in light caresses along Rosie's soft skin... then there's a small, sharp *click* as he firmly locks the padlock closed. His hands rest on Rosenstern's shoulders, and he leans to brush a light kiss across Rosenstern's forehead, rumbling quietly, "You are mine now, pretty Rose, until you ask otherwise... 'n I'm yours."

Rosenstern shivers, his breath catching at the click. He opens his eyes and smiles quietly at the kiss. Then he throws his arms around Slate and holds him, embracing him tightly. Shateishael smiles slowly, drawing the slight Mercurian into a close, warm hug for as long as Rosie wants. Bella very quietly moves away to give Slate and Rosie a moment to themselves. She knows Slate says she has his heart and Rosie has always welcomed her, but this is a connection that is strongest between the two men. Shateishael gently strokes Rosie's hair as he holds the littler angel close, and reflects with silent pleasure on how fortunate he is. Rosenstern snuggles deeper into Slate's embrace, closing his eyes and smiling contentedly. He keeps himself nestled in Slate's arms for a long time before murmuring, "Should we be getting ready to go to the camp?"

Shateishael rumbles, "When y'ready, li'l flow'r." He looks up for Bella, still contentedly smiling, "Y'got anythin' y'wanna try 'xperimentin' with too, Bellisima?" He draws his scabbarded katana, laying it on the tailgate next to him. He'll carry it in if he can -- no need to advertise that it's with him always.

Bella smiles and shakes her head, arms crossed over her stomach, "I think you boys have it covered."

Shateishael nods, looking around consideringly, then nods again, looking at Rosenstern, "'Kay. 'Less you got sumpthin', we c'n head on over?"

Rosenstern smiles, shaking his head and combing his hair with his fingers. "No, nothing."

Shateishael says, "Havn' felt th'glamour go up, but should be soon, 'm thinkin'." He puts his tools away, closes the truck carefully, then takes the katana in his left hand and grins, "Le's go!"

Bella says she does have one thing and ducks into the tent. When she emerges, she's wearing a belt and collar made of gold coins and chains. She's got castanets that look brass in her hands and she's wearing all this over the sheer red dress she wore the first night at the festival. Around her ankles are strings of silver bells. "I know the dome will take most of it away, but just in case...." She's added a short veil of the same red gauze. She poses, hands on her hips, "What do you think?"

Shateishael blinks, his gaze openly admiring, "Uh... when I start thinkin' 'gain I'll letcha know, sweetheart?" He rallies a moment later, "An', uhm... y'all mind if I don' bother changin'?"

Rosenstern tries, he really tries not to stare. He fails. And he barely remembers to speak. He's simply still not used to seeing Bella in anything more exotic than normal workaday clothing. "You look gorgeous, Bella!" Shateishael nods in silent appreciation.

The Bright laughs, "I haven't done belly dancing in a while, so I thought that's what I'd try to dress as. And it's not like you don't look delicious in whatever you wear."

Shateishael grins with quiet pleasure, "Aw... tha's nice, sweetheart. Thank you!" He gallantly offers her his arm and adds thoughtfully, "Maybe we should try concentratin' real hard when we walk through, 'n see if that keeps this nice outfit f'you?"

Bella slips one arm through one of Slate's, saying "Thank you," to Rosie. The festival is getting more lively every night, with more artwork and more people. The fires are noticeably more numerous tonight than even just last evening. The band of darkness that separates the fae encampment from the rest of Black Rock City is almost a shock. The dome seems to shine onto a quiet, dark encampment. There doesn't to see much movement or activity.
