Intermission[ The game has certainly changed as time has gone by. It has changed focus, and certain things have become refined and been clarified. This is a brief summation of what has happened so far. It is not meant to be comprehensive, only a brief overview of things that have caused some confusion. ] Though they did not know it at the time, Staunton was a dreamscape, one of the myriad places where mortal dreams came together. The mortals in question were just another group of dreamers, and they happened to be together in this communal dream. Merlin, a mortal mage, came to Staunton, and in a moment of crisis brought the four (at that time) mortals out of Staunton. They found themselves on the surface of the small, somewhat spherical dreamscape, and got their first sight of the monstrous, terrible Aqal spider-wasps. The Staunton dreamscape was one of countless little dreamscapes hanging over the Mirror that separates the Dreamtime from the Waking. The Mirror is separated from the rest of the Dreamtime by a great wall, around which are four Palaces with gates. Merlin and a dream-serpent dragon brought the mortals to the Winter Palace. Here, mortals and aethyrs -- spirits who lived entirely within the Dreamtime -- lived and worked, and it is here where Queen Mara Sith ruled with her consorts, and organized the aethyrs' attacks on the Aqal. The Aqal that the mortals saw were the reflections into the Dreamtime of the actual Waking creatures; the Aqal in the Waking are not actually spider-wasps, but a kind of lifeform that feeds on matter and energy and increases entropy. Even so, while they cannot be fought in the Waking, the Aqal can be fought in the Dreamtime, and the aethyrs have indeed been doing just that. (At this time, Mordred's Army was a threat. Mordred was a nihilist, seeking to destroy the Winter Palace forces so that the Aqal could devour the universe. As the focus of the game changed, Mordred's Army became less of a matter to focus on, as did Tigernmus.) The group began to explore and seek ways to eliminate the spider-wasps, and to learn more of the Godswar that had scoured the Dreamtime of seemingly every deity but for El-Amon-Re, the Architect and the Judeo-Christian god. While at the Winter Palace, they learned of the Godswar, and the attempt at domination of El-Amon-Re over the Dreamtime. Raven, one of the two last surviving Thrones of Death, brought Jareth back from death, and in so doing opened herself up to being hunted by Azrael, El-Amon-Re's own psychopomp. Their first journey took them to Thebes, and then to Mount Meru, where they met with the rakshasa army that was engaged in terrible war with the angels of Mount Zion. While at Mount Meru, the three mortals (Tomas/Badger had left the group at Thebes) learned of their deific heritage, that somehow before all their past lives as mortals they were, in fact, at one time gods. Descending into the depths of Angkor Wat, they learned more about the Godswar, including the noteworthy information that the Architect was properly called "El-Amon." The "-Re" appeared to be appended to his name from the Egyptian sun god (as most people believed) but was notably missing from Lord Krishna's testament to the three once-gods. Moving on from Mount Meru, the group went to Uluru, meeting with the surviving minor deities including the Voudoun pantheon. From there, they went to Babylon. In the depths of Mount Zion they found El-Amon-Re's son sealed away in a vault, being tormented in order to become the Antichrist, to raise up an empire against the Architect just so it could be toppled to demonstrate the Architect's might. They also found Cain of the Twigs, both a reflection of the first murderer and embodiment of the first tribe to consciously wage war upon another mortal tribe. In there, they found additional information relating to the Metatron. From Babylon, they made their way to Yggdrasil, and on to the city of Neuschwabenland in the Deep Wyld. By this point, the mortals strongly suspected -- to the point of certainty -- that El-Amon had disappeared and that Metatron was, in fact, calling all the shots on Mount Zion. It became imperative to stop Azrael, and also to find the True Name of Metatron. They have found out that Metatron's name exists in lost Gan Eden, and that they can reach Gan Eden by bringing the foundation-stone of the walls of Jericho to the center of Uluru.
